can we apply papaya on face - #20085

Raghav

I am really curious about something that's been bugging me for a while. I've heard people talking about how papaya is supposed to be great for the skin, especially for brightening and exfoliating. I even read one blog that said it can help with acne too, which is super relevant for me right now since I'm dealing with some breakouts. I tried applying a bit of mashed papaya on my face the other day after hearing all the hype, and I swear I felt good stuff, but is that enough??? Like, can we apply papaya on face safely? I did notice my skin felt kinda weird after I rinsed it off – slightly tingly, and I started wondering if I’d overdone it or something. I mean, is there a right way to go about using it? Also, I have pretty sensitive skin and sometimes products can irritate me, which makes me worried. Should I test it on a small patch or is that overthinking? Can we apply papaya on face every day or is that too much? How long should I leave it on, if at all? Just trying to figure this out without messing up my skin even more! I hope someone can help answer these questions 'cause I feel all over the place with this whole home remedy thing. Thanks in advance!

Applying papaya to the face can be beneficial due to the enzymes and vitamins it contains, like papain, which helps exfoliate by breaking down dead skin cells, and vitamin C, which supports skin brightness. However, with sensitive skin, using papaya should be approached cautiously to prevent irritation. Given your skin’s sensitivity and previous tingling sensation, it’s wise to start gradually. Begin by conducting a patch test. Apply a small bit of mashed papaya on an inconspicuous area, like behind the ear or on the forearm, leaving it for 15 minutes to check for any adverse reactions. If there’s no redness or irritation after 24 hours, it’s likely safe for wider facial use. To avoid overdoing it, limit application to once or twice a week and observe how your skin responds. Leaving it on your face for about 10-15 minutes should be sufficient—more extended periods can increase sensitivity, especially if there’s tingling. While papaya can be included as part of skincare, relying solely on it for acne might not be effective. Consider revising your skincare routine or consulting with a dermatologist, especially if breakouts persist or worsen. The tingling sensation you felt might indicate some irritation, which is common with enzymatic treatments, so moderation is key. If irritation continues, discontinue use and explore other gentle, dermatologist-recommended options suitable for sensitive skin.
