how to apply onion juice to hair - #20420

Keya

I am really curious about how to apply onion juice to hair. A few weeks ago I started noticing some thinning spots, especially at my temples, and it’s freakin' me out! My friend told me onion juice could help with hair growth, but honestly, I have no clue how to apply onion juice to hair. Do I just slap it on? Should I mix it with like oil or something? I tried once just chopping up an onion and squeezing the juice out, but it was kinda messy and stinky! After leaving it on for like an hour, I felt like it wasn’t doing much. Also, how often should I be applying this? I feel like if I don't do it regularly, it won’t work, right? What do you suggest to actually make the most of how to apply onion juice to hair? Oh, and should I wash it off with something specific because my shampoo wasn't getting rid of the onion smell, which is like, ugh! I really want something that’s not gonna just coat my hair with a weird scent. Anyone tried this and can share how best they did it? Would appreciate any tips on how to apply onion juice to hair properly!

When it comes to using onion juice for hair, you’re definitely not alone in wondering how to apply it effectively. Onion juice is often touted for its potential benefits in supporting hair growth due to its high sulfur content, but it’s important to apply it correctly to get the most out of it. Here’s how you might consider going about it: First, extract the juice by finely grating a fresh onion and squeezing out the juice with a cheesecloth or strainer. Mixing the onion juice with carrier oils like coconut or olive oil can help mask the smell and make it easier to apply. Aim for a ratio of at least 2 parts onion juice to 1 part oil. Applying with a cotton ball or a brush can help target specific areas like your thinning spots without too much mess. Massage the mixture gently into your scalp for at least 10-15 minutes to help improve circulation and absorption. It’s usually suggested to leave it on for 30 minutes to an hour, but if the odor is a big concern, start with shorter durations and see how your scalp tolerates it. Speaking of smell, washing it off with a mild shampoo mixed with lemon juice or apple cider vinegar in water can help neutralize the odor—use them in moderation. For frequency, 2 to 3 times a week is often recommended, but listen to your scalp’s reaction. If any irritation or discomfort appears, reduce or stop the applications. It’s also important to be realistic about expectations. While some people report positive results, clinical evidence supporting onion juice for hair regrowth is still limited. If you notice no improvement in the thickness or if hair loss is getting worse, might not be a bad idea to consult with a dermatologist or healthcare provider. Other underlying conditions could be at play, and they’ll help you determine the best course of action for your specific situation.
