does shilajit increase dht - #24042

Ayaan

I am really confused about this whole shilajit thing. Like, last month, I started taking shilajit because a friend said it was amazing for energy and all that jazz. But I saw a video where someone mentioned does shilajit increase DHT, and honestly, that made me freak out a bit. I'm already dealing with thinning hair and I definitely don’t wanna make it worse! My grandpa had a huge issue with balding and I think it might run in the family. I figured trying shilajit could give me a boost but now I’m worried. I mean, does shilajit increase DHT levels? I read somewhere that DHT is linked to hair loss. Also, I've been feeling really energized, like I can work out for longer—while it does feel great, is that just the shilajit doing its thing or could it be affecting my hormones too? This whole DHT and hair loss thing is just giving me anxiety. I should probably stop taking it, but on the other hand, I don’t want to miss out on whatever benefits shilajit might have. If it does shilajit increase DHT, is there a way I could balance it out or something? I know this might sound so silly but I really need some insight here!

Shilajit is a traditional supplement that’s gained some popularity for its potential benefits, especially in terms of energy and vitality. It’s often marketed for its supposed power-boosting properties, which might explain that workout stamina you’ve been feeling. When it comes to the concern around DHT (dihydrotestosterone) and hair loss, DHT is indeed a more potent derivative of testosterone and has been linked to androgenetic alopecia, which is a genetic form of hair loss. While some people believe that shilajit might influence DHT levels, there isn’t strong scientific evidence directly connecting shilajit to increased DHT production. The concern mostly comes from the idea that any substance that potentially supports testosterone levels could indirectly affect DHT, but this isn’t well-documented for shilajit specifically.

If you’re experiencing anxiety about hair loss and worried about genetic predisposition, it might be worthwhile to evaluate your lifestyle factors, including diet, stress levels, and any other supplements or medications that could be contributing factors. For balancing out any potential effects of DHT, consider talking to a dermatologist or endocrinologist. They can offer guidance, potentially through the use of treatments like finasteride or minoxidil, which are known to manage hair loss linked to DHT. If you’re noticing significant or sudden changes, bringing these concerns to a healthcare professional can help tailor a plan that’s right for your health needs and goals.

Meanwhile, if your main goal with shilajit is energy enhancement and you find it beneficial without notable side effects, consider tracking any other physical changes you notice. Should hair thinning increase notably, weight the benefits and risks again with a professional’s input. Above all, if any supplement is causing significant concern or anxiety, it might be better to pause it and discuss alternative ways to boost energy that don’t feed into this DHT worry. Remember, every individual will react differently, so a personalized approach is always best.
