how to know original shilajit - #25086

Priya

I am really confused about this whole thing with shilajit. I’ve heard sooo many amazing things about it, how it can boost energy and immunity, but I don’t wanna waste my money on fake stuff. A friend of mine swears by it and says it transformed her health. I tried looking for shilajit online and there’s like a million brands out there, all claiming to sell the best. How even do you tell the difference?? I found this one product that looks promising, but then I started doubting again. I read about how important it is to know how to know original shilajit, but no one seems to give a clear answer! I saw some things about color, consistency, and even a weird tar-like smell—what does that even mean?? Some websites say to check for testing certificates or something but those look super sketchy too. Does anyone have tips? Like, how do you know original shilajit? If you’ve bought it before, how did you check if it was legit or not? Should I look for that lab testing thingy or are there specific brands you guys trust?? Would love any advice before I make a purchase. Thanks!

Determining the authenticity of shilajit can indeed be a challenge, given the variety of products available. Genuine shilajit should typically have a sticky, tar-like consistency and be neither too dry nor too wet. Its color may range from a dark brown to black, and it should possess a distinct, almost earthy smell. While these characteristics are important, they alone might not guarantee authenticity, so it’s wise to be cautious. A reputable brand should provide transparency about its sourcing and manufacturing practices, and it’s advisable to look for brands that offer laboratory testing results. These certificates can provide information about the purity of the product and the absence of contaminants such as heavy metals or additives. However, as you mentioned, not all certificates are legitimate, so it’s better to choose products that have been third-party tested by a recognized lab. Checking reviews and seeking recommendations from trusted sources or health professionals might also offer useful insights.

If a particular shilajit claims to uphold traditional preparation methods or comes from a specific geographical source known for purity, that might be a good sign. It’s also crucial to be mindful of health claims that sound too good to be true. These are often red flags indicating potential false advertising. When considering any new supplement, even one as revered as shilajit, ensure you’re approaching its use with a balanced view, understanding both its potential benefits and limitations based on your personal health needs. Consulting with a healthcare provider can personalize this process, factoring in any potential interactions with medications or underlying health conditions. They can provide guidance on whether introducing shilajit might be a positive addition to your lifestyle or if other health interventions are more appropriate.
