Doctors' responses

Based on your symptoms — eye itching, redness, and occasional tearing after working 4–8 hours daily on the computer — this is most consistent with digital eye strain and dryness, sometimes called Computer vision syndrome, and possibly mild Allergic conjunctivitis. These problems are usually caused by reduced blinking, screen glare, and long continuous screen time rather than a vitamin deficiency, so multivitamins alone will not solve the issue. The most helpful steps are using preservative-free artificial tear eye drops 3–4 times daily, following the 20-20-20 rule (every 20 minutes look 20 feet away for 20 seconds), adjusting screen brightness, keeping proper distance, staying hydrated, and reducing dust or allergens. If you still want a supplement, you may take a simple eye-health formula containing vitamin A, lutein, zeaxanthin, and omega-3, but these are supportive only. If redness, discharge, or irritation continues beyond a week or worsens, consult an eye doctor to rule out infection or allergy. Overall, your symptoms are most likely from screen strain and dryness, not a serious eye problem.

For eye health, especially when you’re spending extended hours on a computer, certain vitamins and nutrients can indeed be helpful. Vitamins C and E, zinc, lutein, zeaxanthin, and omega-3 fatty acids are all vital for maintaining healthy eyes. Look for a multivitamin that includes these components. Lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoids found in high concentrations in the retina and are known to help protect against damage from blue light emitted by screens. Omega-3 fatty acids, typically found in fish oil, help maintain visual acuity and support the health of retinal cells. When choosing a multivitamin, ensure it’s reputable and has been tested for quality assurance. Always take supplements with food to improve absorption and minimize gastrointestinal discomfort. Be cautious about dosing; exceeding the recommended daily allowance can have adverse effects. It’s important to complement vitamin intake with lifestyle adjustments. Follow the 20-20-20 rule to reduce eye strain—every 20 minutes, look away from your screen at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This helps reduce eye fatigue. Stay well-hydrated and maintain a balanced diet rich in green leafy vegetables, nuts, and fish. Reducing screen glare and ensuring proper lighting can also alleviate symptoms. If redness and itching persist, or if you notice changes in your vision, seek medical attention. These symptoms can sometimes be indicative of underlying conditions requiring specific treatments.

Eye itching and redness from long computer use is usually due to digital eye strain or dry eyes, and multivitamins alone may not solve the problem. Follow the 20-20-20 rule, reduce screen brightness, blink often, and use lubricating eye drops; if you want supplements, choose ones with lutein, zeaxanthin, and vitamin A after medical advice. Consult an ophthalmologist if redness, discharge, or irritation continues beyond 1–2 weeks to rule out allergy or infection.

Hello

For screen-related itching and redness, a multivitamin with lutein + zeaxanthin + vitamin A + omega-3 can support eye comfort.

For support Swisse Eye Health+ Tablets

But since symptoms started less than a week, first try:

lubricating eye drops - Refresh tears 20-20-20 screen rule more blinking and breaks

Eat eye-healthy foods (leafy greens, carrots, citrus) rich in vitamins A, C, and antioxidants.

If redness or discharge continues >1 week or worsens → see an eye doctor.

Hello It sounds like you might be experiencing eye strain from long hours on the computer, which can lead to dryness and redness. For eye health, a good multivitamin can help support your vision. Here are a couple of suggestions: 1. Lutein and Zeaxanthin: These are antioxidants found in many eye health supplements. They help protect the eyes from harmful light and may reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration. 2. Vitamin A: Essential for good vision, especially in low light. It helps maintain the health of the retina. 3. Omega-3 Fatty Acids: These can help reduce dryness and irritation in the eyes.

You can look for multivitamins that specifically mention eye health or include these ingredients. Some popular brands in India include: - HealthKart Eye Care: Contains lutein, zeaxanthin, and other vitamins beneficial for eye health. - Baidyanath Amla: Rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants, which can support overall eye health.

In addition to supplements, consider taking regular breaks using the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This can help reduce eye strain.

For eye itching and redness, lubricating eye drops (artificial tears) can be very helpful. Here are a couple of options you might consider: 1. Refresh Tears: These are preservative-free artificial tears that can help relieve dryness and irritation. 2. Systane Ultra: Another good option for dry eyes, providing long-lasting relief. 3. Tears Naturale: These drops are also effective for soothing dry and irritated eyes.

Thank you
