Contiues bleeding - #29348
I am really worried about something that’s been going on with me. About a week ago, I started having this issue where I have continues bleeding from my gums whenever I brush my teeth. It’s really freakin’ scary! I thought it was just maybe something minor at first, like brushing too hard or a lack of flossing, but it keeps happening. And not just a little bit, like real blood! I even tried to pay extra attention to my dental care, but every time I brush, there’s continues bleeding. Last night, I noticed it again—like, come on! Should I be concerned?? My friend suggested I might be low on vitamins or something, but I’m not really sure what to think. I’d love to hear if anyone else has dealt with continues bleeding from their gums, and what you did about it. I really want to avoid a trip to the dentist if I can, but part of me feels like this can't just keep going on, right? Got any advice or thoughts on what could be causing the continues bleeding? Thanks in advance!

Bleeding gums can indeed be unsettling, and you’re right to question what’s causing it. It’s often a sign of gum inflammation, usually due to gingivitis, where plaque buildup leads to the gums becoming irritated and bleeding. You mentioned it happens when you brush your teeth, so ensuring you’re using a soft-bristle toothbrush might help reduce trauma to the gums. Make sure your brushing technique is gentle and follow it up with flossing to effectively remove food particles and plaque. However, persistent and continuous gum bleeding could indicate something more that requires further attention.
Nutritional deficiencies, particularly vitamin C deficiency, can lead to bleeding gums as well. Consider evaluating your diet to ensure it includes enough fruits and vegetables with sufficient vitamins or discuss with your healthcare provider whether a supplement might be necessary. Systemic issues such as blood disorders, diabetes, or hormonal changes can also contribute to this symptom, so if your bleeding continues, it would be advisable to seek medical attention.
Though it might be an inconvenience, seeing a dentist would be a prudent step since they can conduct a thorough examination and guide you on appropriate interventions like professional cleaning. They can also assess if there are any underlying issues such as periodontal disease, which requires targeted treatment. Lastly, if there are any changes in color, swelling, or if the bleeding worsens, don’t delay seeking dental or medical care, as these could be warning signs of more serious conditions.
