Is it safe to re-pierce my nose through an old piercing site with a bump?
Hello Doctor, I have a nose piercing that is about 6 years old. The piercing has closed now, but there is still a visible mark on the outside. Inside my nostril, there is a small bump at the old piercing site. It is not painful, not growing, and has stayed the same size and position for about a year. I would like to get my nose re-pierced in the exact same spot because the previous placement was perfect. If I pierce higher, it will be too high, and if I pierce lower, it will be too low for a nose ring. My questions are: 1. Is it safe to re-pierce through the same spot? 2. Does the bump need to be removed first? 3. If it is scar tissue, what are the treatment options? Can it be treated with an injection, surgery, or another method? 4. Approximately how much would the treatment cost? Thank you.
