Hello Doctor
Thank you for your guidance. I have tested positive using the Prega News kit. At this time, I do not wish to continue with the pregnancy.
As I am a student with limited financial means, I would be grateful if you could kindly advise me on the safest and most affordable treatment options available.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Hello dear Thanks for the response See in that case you can go for abortion. I would like to suggest you to please get in person consultation with gynacolologist for further information as it is a medico legal case. In addition, Please get the procedure done in nearby government hospital as that can be cheaper and affordable. I would not suggest any other option or medications because in person consultation with specialist doctor would the best to be on the safer side Hopefully your query got solved Thanks
Hello Doctor, thank you for your detailed response. I would like to add an important detail that I missed earlier: I had unprotected intercourse with my partner on 5th August. Her last menstrual period was on 30th July, and usually her cycles are regular (28–30 days). She has not yet got her expected period (due around 28th Aug–1st Sept).
Currently, she is experiencing:
Missed period (delayed by 3–5 days)
Mild leg swelling
There is no nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fever, or spotting.
Hello Doctor, thank you for your guidance. I just wanted to clarify that we had unprotected intercourse only once, on 5th August. Her last period was on 30th July, and since then she has missed her expected period.
Should we still go ahead with the urine pregnancy strip test or blood beta-hCG test to confirm?
Thanks again for your advice.
Hello dear Thanks for the confirmation See blood beta HCG test is comparatively more accurate and better than simple pregnancy strip test ( HCG in urine) So go forward with blood - beta HCG Regards
A period that’s a couple of days late is fairly common and usually not an immediate cause for concern, especially if your cycle is generally regular. Several factors can influence your menstrual cycle, including stress, changes in diet or exercise habits, travel, or even a minor illness. However, considering you mentioned the additional symptom of leg swelling, it’s a good idea to pay a bit more attention to this situation. Leg swelling—or edema—can have various causes, ranging from something as simple as standing too long, to more complex issues like problems related to circulation or the kidneys. In the context of a missed period, pregnancy is often a consideration. A cost-effective and quick action you can take is to perform a home pregnancy test, especially since you are 2 days overdue. If negative and your period doesn’t start in another week, it might be worth repeating the test. Regarding the leg swelling, keeping your legs elevated when resting, reducing salt intake, and avoiding prolonged standing can help manage the mild edema. If the swelling worsens, spreads, becomes painful, or is associated with other symptoms like shortness of breath or chest discomfort, it’s wise to seek medical attention promptly, as these can be signs of more serious conditions like deep vein thrombosis or heart issues. Lastly, if neither the period resumes nor identifiable reasons for missing it are apparent, consult with a healthcare provider for a detailed evaluation to rule out underlying issues such as hormonal imbalances or other systemic concerns. Keeping yourself hydrated and maintaining a balanced lifestyle can often aid in regulating your menstrual cycle and reducing associated symptoms.
