best way to apply aloe vera on face - #15746

Simran

I am looking for some advice on the best way to apply aloe vera on face, 'cause my skin has been a total wreck lately. A few weeks ago, I noticed these weird dry patches and some redness that just wouldn’t go away. At first, I thought it was maybe just seasonal allergies or something but now I’m not so sure. I remembered my grandma always saying aloe vera is magic for skin, so I decided to give it a try. I bought a fresh aloe vera leaf from the store, and I squeezed out the gel. But honestly, I’m a bit lost on the best way to apply aloe vera on face. Should I just slather it on like a moisturizer or do I need to prep my skin before putting it on? Also, are there any specific times of the day that are better for applying it? I mean, can I leave it on overnight or is that too much? I’ve read some say to rinse it off after a few hours, but that just seems like a hassle. Surprisingly, the first time I used it, I felt this odd tingling sensation. Is that normal? Seriously, what’s the best way to apply aloe vera on face without screwing things up more? Would love any tips on this before I end up with a bigger mess on my hands!

Using aloe vera on your face can be beneficial since it’s known for its soothing, moisturizing, and anti-inflammatory properties, great for tackling dryness and redness. When it comes to applying it correctly, start by doing a patch test on a small area of your skin to ensure there’s no adverse reaction, even if aloe vera is generally considered safe for most people, skin sensitivities can vary. If you’re fine, then move forward by cleansing your face to remove any dirt or oil, as a clean surface ensures better absorption of the aloe. Once your face is dry, you can apply a thin layer of the fresh aloe gel directly onto your face like you would with a regular moisturizer. Allow it to sit for about 10-15 minutes depending on your skin’s tolerance. The tingling sensation you felt previously can be common as aloe vera increases blood flow to the skin surface, but ensure it’s not a burning feeling, which could indicate a sensitivity. Many people find it’s best to use aloe vera gel once daily, preferably in the evening after cleansing, but leaving it overnight may not be ideal as aloe vera can be a little on the drying side if used excessively, try rinsing it off with lukewarm water after 20-30 minutes. Applying a moisturizer after using aloe vera can help lock in the soothing effect and prevent the skin from drying out further. If you’re not seeing improvements or if any irritation persists, it might be wise to consult a dermatologist for deeper insights into the dry patches and redness. There’s always the possibility of underlying skin conditions like eczema or dermatitis that wouldn’t respond to aloe vera and might require specific treatment. Always be cautious and attentive to how your skin is reacting to ensure safe and effective skin care practices.
