black pimple remove cream - #17522

Reet

I am dealing with this annoying black pimple situation that just won't go away! It started a couple weeks ago, right before an important event. I thought it was just a regular acne flare-up, but then it turned pitch black and really stood out. I tried some over-the-counter stuff, like those gels, but nothing's working! I mean, I’ve been putting on this black pimple remove cream they sell at the pharmacy, but I feel like it’s making it worse instead of better. I read online that some creams could be too strong and maybe irritating the skin. Has anyone had a black pimple that turned worse with cream? I’m also worried it may leave a scar, UGH! I'm seriously struggling right now and just want to feel confident again. Are there specific ingredients in a black pimple remove cream that I should be looking for? Or is it possible that I’m just not using it right? I’ve tried all these suggestions and it’s just making me frustrated. Like, does anyone know what actually works? I would really appreciate any tips or experiences on how to actually remove this problem.

Doctors' responses

It sounds like you’re dealing with a particularly stubborn spot, and tackling it with the right approach can be a bit tricky. When picking a cream for treating a pimple that’s turned black, it’s crucial to consider a few things. Firstly, make sure you’re looking for creams that contain ingredients known for their anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. Common ingredients include benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, which might help reduce inflammation and clear clogged pores. However, these ingredients can sometimes be too harsh if overused or used incorrectly, leading to irritation, so ensure you’re following the product’s instructions closely. Apply only a small amount on the affected area and monitor how your skin responds for a couple of days. It’s possible that the cream you’re using is irritating your skin and exacerbating the problem, which could explain the worsening you’re noticing. If over-the-counter options aren’t showing any signs of working, reaching out to a dermatologist could be a good step. They might prescribe stronger medication, like topical retinoids or even antibiotics, depending on their assessment. Also, be gentle with your skin—avoid picking at the pimple or over-scrubbing, which can lead to scarring and further irritation. It might help to switch to a gentle, non-comedogenic cleanser to maintain a clear face. While you try these measures, keeping the area clean, shielded from excess sun exposure, and moisturized could also foster healing and potentially minimize scar formation. If concerns about scarring persist, a dermatologist can guide appropriate scar treatments, too.
