homemade face bleach - #17532

Aadhya

I am really frustrated with this skin issue I've been having for a while now. My friends always talk about how they use homemade face bleach to lighten their dark spots, and I thought maybe I’d give it a try, but I’m honestly confused. Last week, I mixed a couple of lemon juices with some yogurt, as I read online that's what you should do for a good homemade face bleach. After using it for a few days, my skin got kind of red and itchy, and honestly, it didn’t really help my dark spots – if anything, they seemed to get darker, ugh! Some people say homemade face bleach can really work wonders, but why does mine seem to backfire? Maybe I left it on too long or used too much lemon? I don’t know if I should keep going with this homemade face bleach stuff or just stop altogether. Have any of you experienced something like this? What’s the right way to use homemade face bleach without these weird side effects? I’m just trying to find something that actually helps!

Homemade face bleach often involves using natural ingredients like lemon juice which is widely believed to help lighten dark spots due to its citric acid content. However, lemon juice is highly acidic and can be irritating to many skin types. Its acidity can disrupt your skin’s natural pH, potentially leading to redness, itchiness, or even chemical burns with prolonged use or overexposure to the sun. People have different sensitivities, and given that your skin became red and itchy, it’s a sign that this mixture might not be the right fit for you. Lemon also increases photo-sensitivity, which means it makes skin more prone to UV damage, possibly darkening spots further. Using yogurt might help neutralize some acidity, but if the irritation persists, it’s best to stop. There’s no standard ‘right way’ as homemade treatments can be very hit or miss and lack scientific backing or control over concentrations, unlike commercial products that are rigorously tested for efficacy and safety. Instead, consider using over-the-counter products formulated for brightening, like those containing ingredients such as hydroquinone, niacinamide, or vitamin C, which can help lighten spots without the risks of irritation from acids like lemon juice. Remember to use sunscreen daily to protect your skin. If your skin issues persist or worsen, consulting with a dermatologist for personalized advice and treatment options would be a wise next step. They can offer alternatives that are safe, based on your specific skin type and condition.
