homemade night cream with aloe vera gel - #17598

Saanvi

I am trying to figure out something regarding my skin! Lately, I’ve been dealing with some dryness and a few fine lines — getting old, I guess? Anyway, I heard that a homemade night cream with aloe vera gel could be super beneficial for my skin. I went ahead and made a batch using fresh aloe vera gel from a plant I have at home. But honestly, I’m not sure if I did it right. I mixed the gel with some coconut oil and a bit of vitamin E, which I read about online, but it feels kinda greasy and not as absorbent as I expected. Should homemade night cream with aloe vera gel actually feel this way? Also, how long should I be using this before I start to see results? My skin is sensitive, so I’m worried about possible reactions. Should I be cautious with the essential oils? I feel like maybe I added too much, and I really don’t wanna make things worse! I’ve read that homemade night cream with aloe vera gel can work wonders, but is it common to have these concerns? Just trying to figure out if other people had a smooth experience or if this is typical when starting out. Any advice from you all would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like you’re taking an interesting approach to skincare with your homemade night cream. Aloe vera gel is known for its soothing, hydrating, and healing properties, which can be quite beneficial for dry skin and fine lines. When making night creams at home, texture inconsistencies are fairly common, and they often lead to varied results depending on the exact proportions and types of ingredients used. Given that your mixture felt greasy, it might be because coconut oil is quite heavy and occlusive, especially for sensitive skin. It’s great for deeply moisturizing, but can sometimes leave a greasy residue if not balanced with lighter oils or emollients. As for vitamin E, it’s an excellent antioxidant, but using it in moderation is key to avoid side effects. The absorption problem could also be linked to the amount of coconut oil relative to the aloe vera gel. Reducing the coconut oil or switching to a lighter oil like jojoba or grapeseed might help create a formula that’s more easily absorbed by the skin. Regarding essential oils, they can indeed cause irritation, particularly for sensitive skin. It’s advisable to use them sparingly — just a couple of drops should suffice, as they’re highly concentrated. You might try doing a patch test on a small area of your skin to ensure there’s no adverse reaction before applying the cream to your face. Results from any new skincare routine can vary, but generally, it can take a few weeks to notice significant improvements in skin texture or appearance. If, however, you experience any redness, itching, or breakouts, it would be wise to discontinue use immediately and possibly consult with a dermatologist to tailor products that suit your specific skin type.
