aloe vera face pack for whitening skin - #17758

Agastya

I am super confused about this aloe vera face pack for whitening skin. I've tried a few different natural remedies as my skin has been looking kinda dull lately and let me tell you, I feel like I've been chasing my tail here. I started using this aloe vera face pack for whitening skin last week, thinking it would brighten things up. At first, I was like “wow, this feels refreshing!” but then I noticed some redness around my cheeks after using it for a few days. I didn't think much of it at first, but then, randomly, my best friend asked if I was sunburnt. I mean, seriously!!! I thought aloe vera was supposed to be calming or whatever! Could I be allergic to the aloe vera or mixing it with something else? I even added a bit of lemon juice into the aloe vera face pack for whitening skin because I read online somewhere that might help. Now I'm nervous it’s making my skin worse! Has anyone else tried an aloe vera face pack for whitening skin and experienced this? Should I keep using it or ditch it? Ugh, so frustrating!

Using aloe vera on your skin can indeed feel refreshing because it’s known for its hydrating and soothing properties. However, mixing it with lemon juice might be causing the redness you’re experiencing. Lemon juice is highly acidic and can irritate the skin, potentially leading to redness or even burns, especially if exposed to sunlight soon after application. This combination could be why you’re noticing irritation, as lemon juice isn’t traditionally suitable for sensitive skin or mixed with sunlight due to its photosensitive nature. Aloe vera on its own is generally calming, but everyone’s skin reacts differently, and allergenic reactions can occur, though they’re less common. Introducing ingredients like lemon juice can further complicate the reaction essentially, what you’re encountering now. I’d recommend pausing the use of this mixture immediately to allow your skin to calm down. Rinse your face with cool water and use a gentle, non-irritating moisturizer to help soothe your skin. Avoid sun exposure on your face because of the lemon juice’s photosensitivity effects. If you’re really keen on continuing with a skin-brightening routine, consult a dermatologist to find a method or product suited for sensitive skin. It’s important to patch-test any new mixture on a small part of your skin before full application, especially if it includes potential irritants like citrus.
