alovera cream - #21373
I am really stressing about my skin right now. Last month, I started using this new alovera cream, and at first, I thought it was helping my dry skin a lot. I mean, my face felt way smoother and I thought the redness from some patches was going down. But then, after about a week, I noticed these weird small bumps appearing on my cheeks. Initially, I thought maybe it was just my skin adjusting to the alovera cream or something like that. I kept using it, but they didn’t go away! Instead, it got itchy and I even saw some peeling, too. I am super confused because I always thought alovera cream is supposed to be gentle and soothing? I read online that some people can have allergies to alovera, but I never had issues with it before. Now I'm unsure if I should continue using this cream or stop it altogether. Does anyone know if this is a common reaction? Should I just switch to a different product? Or is there a chance it could get better the longer I use the alovera cream? Please help! I don’t have a clue what to do.

Doctors' responses
Aloe vera is generally known for its soothing and moisturizing properties, but skin reactions can still occur for a variety of reasons. The bumps, itchiness, and peeling you’re experiencing could be signs of an allergic reaction or irritation. It’s possible that while aloe vera itself is often tolerated, other ingredients in the cream could be causing the problem. Sometimes, even with previous tolerance, a new product formulation or concentration could trigger a reaction. To address this, it’s crucial to first stop using the cream immediately to prevent further irritation. To help your skin recover, use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer and avoid any other potential irritants like exfoliants or harsh cleansers. Monitoring your skin for a few days can provide clues to if it’s starting to improve, but if redness or irritation persists, consider consulting a dermatologist. They can perform a patch test to check for allergens and recommend alternative skin care options suitable to your skin type. Keep in mind that persistent or worsening symptoms may require further medical evaluation to rule out other dermatological conditions. Based on this assessment, you might need to switch to a product with simpler ingredients or seek treatments designed for sensitive skin. Always conduct a patch test when trying a new product, especially if you have had reactions in the past, to avoid larger reactions.
