can piles be cured without surgery - #22523

Drishti

I am a 32-year-old who has been dealing with piles for what feels like forever. It started a few months ago when I noticed some bleeding and discomfort during bowel movements. I thought maybe it was a one-time thing, but it has gotten worse! I’ve tried over-the-counter creams and dietary changes, but things just ain't improving. I’ve read about can piles be cured without surgery and that there are other options, like dietary supplements, natural remedies, or even lifestyle changes that could help. Is it really possible to treat this without going under the knife? I don’t know, surgery just seems so extreme, and the thought terrifies me. My friend mentioned some home treatments that could help reduce the size and the pain, should I explore those further? I'm kinda at my wits' end here, and worry I might need surgery if it keeps up. But would love to know if people here have found ways to manage or even cure piles without surgery? How long does it usually take for non-surgical methods to help? Any success stories would be amazing to hear! I just wanna feel normal again!

Yes, piles, also known as hemorrhoids, can often be managed or even resolved without the need for surgery. This usually involves a combination of lifestyle modifications, dietary adjustments, and over-the-counter treatments. Since you’ve already tried some topical treatments and dietary changes without much success, let’s refine the approach. Firstly, consider increasing your fiber intake even more. Ideally, aim for 20-30 grams of dietary fiber per day, which helps to soften stools and reduce straining during bowel movements. This can be supplemented with over-the-counter fiber supplements like psyllium or methylcellulose if you find it challenging to reach the goal with food alone. Consuming plenty of water, around 8-10 glasses a day, is equally important to ensure the fiber works effectively.

Regular exercise, such as brisk walking or cycling, can improve bowel regularity. However, avoid activities that put excessive pressure on the abdomen, like heavy weightlifting, until symptoms improve. Consider a warm sitz bath for 10 to 15 minutes a few times a day to ease discomfort and soothe the affected area. Using ice packs intermittently may also reduce swelling. Discussing the use of oral flavonoid supplements like Daflon with your healthcare provider could be worthwhile as they have been shown to improve hemorrhoidal symptoms.

While natural remedies such as witch hazel or aloe vera may offer relief for some, they should be used cautiously, and it’s vital to rule out any possible allergies. Always patch test any topicals before applying them more broadly. If you haven’t already, consider a consultation with a healthcare provider to evaluate your condition and confirm no other underlying issues are contributing to your symptoms. Sometimes, chronic or more severe cases do benefit from procedural interventions such as rubber band ligation or sclerotherapy, which are less invasive than traditional surgery.

Regarding how long it takes for non-surgical methods to provide relief, it varies. Some individuals notice significant improvements within a few weeks, while for others, it may take longer, or they may need to try several combinations of treatments before finding what works best for them. Keep in mind, if symptoms become severe or persistent despite these measures, it would be wise to consult a healthcare provider, as they can help reassess the situation and determine if different approaches or interventions are warranted. Surgery is generally considered when conservative treatments fail, or complications arise. Always prioritize safety and timely medical evaluation over self-treatment, especially if new or concerning symptoms develop.
