side effects of eating curd at night - #27070

Rohan

I am waking up every night feeling super uncomfortable and honestly kinda confused. It all started when I decided to try eating curd at night because I read somewhere that it’s good for digestion, but now I’m not so sure. Like, one night I had a small bowl right before bed, and I started freaking out because my stomach felt bloated and gassy. I thought maybe I just ate too much that day or something, but it keeps happening! The next day, I asked a friend, and they said something about the side effects of eating curd at night possibly being linked to, like, acidity or even disrupting sleep. Just last night, I had a little bit more curd thinking maybe I just got it all wrong, but wow, did I have weird dreams and woke up with this weird burning sensation. It's honestly giving me second thoughts on curd. Are the side effects of eating curd at night worse for some people? Could I be lactose intolerant or is it just too heavy to digest when I’m trying to sleep? I’m starting to wonder if there are any actual benefits outweighing the side effects of eating curd at night. Anyone else have issues like this? What should I do?

Eating curd at night can be fine for many, but it might not be the best choice for everyone, especially if you’re experiencing discomfort like bloating or a burning sensation. Curd, or yogurt, generally promotes good digestion due to probiotics, but some people might have a sensitivity to it, particularly at night. It’s possible that consuming curd could be contributing to acidity, which may explain the discomfort and burning sensation you’re feeling. Each person’s body reacts differently, and factors like lactose intolerance or sensitivity to dairy products can also be at play. This could lead to gas, bloating, and even weird sleep patterns or vivid dreams. Even though curd’s generally considered good for digestion, for some people, it might be easier to digest during the day rather than just before sleeping. One suggestion is to try consuming curd earlier in the evening or during the day and see if your symptoms improve. It would also be helpful to monitor other foods you’re eating throughout the day to see if there is a pattern contributing to the discomfort. If symptoms persist, or if you suspect lactose intolerance, it might be worthwhile to try a lactose-free yogurt or consult with a healthcare provider to discuss testing or alternative dietary adjustments. They can help you determine if dairy might be causing these issues and explore other potential factors. Remember, balancing your diet with various foods and keeping track of how your body reacts can guide you toward what works best for you, especially in managing discomfort and ensuring restful sleep.
