what is giloy juice - #24300

Drishti

I am really curious about this thing called giloy juice. A friend mentioned it the other day when I was trying to find something natural to help boost my immunity since I’ve been feeling kinda under the weather. I mean, I get sick more often than I used to, and it’s really starting to annoy me. The thing is, when I looked it up, I found tons of conflicting info. Some say it’s a miracle worker for fevers and some even claim it can help with diabetes! But honestly, what is giloy juice supposed to do exactly? My mom is always skeptical about herbal stuff and says I should just stick to my medications, but I feel like if it can help with my immune system, maybe it’s worth a shot. I’m not sure how to even take it — is it a drink, or do I have to mix it with something? Has anyone here tried drinking it regularly? Like, does it taste bad or what? Any side effects I should worry about too? Just kinda overwhelmed with all the information and would love to know from real peoples’ experiences! What is giloy juice and is it as good as they say?

Giloy juice is derived from the herb Tinospora cordifolia, which is often used in traditional Indian medicine (Ayurveda) and has gained popularity for its supposed health benefits, particularly in boosting immunity. The plant is thought to have antioxidants and may help the body fight pathogens. There’s also some talk about it having anti-inflammatory properties, which might offer relief for conditions involving inflammation. As for diabetes, some believe giloy can have a positive effect on blood sugar levels, but this is still a topic needing more robust scientific research to back such claims fully. When it comes to using giloy juice, typically it is consumed directly in liquid form—a few teaspoons or a small cup, often on an empty stomach in the morning is advised by some traditional practitioners. Keep in mind that taste can be a bit bitter, but tolerable for most.

What’s essential to understand is, although giloy is considered relatively safe by many, there could be possible side effects, especially if taken in excess like general digestive upset. Also, if you are on medications for conditions like diabetes or autoimmune disorders, it would be wise to speak with your healthcare provider. This is important as herbal supplements can sometimes interact with medicines, potentially altering their effectiveness.

While some friends and patients swear by the benefits, scientific evidence firmly supporting all the health claims is limited. It may help, but it’s not a replacement for conventional treatment, especially if you are frequently unwell. Focus on a balanced diet, regular exercise, and proper hygiene as frontline defenses. If illnesses persist, consider a medical review to rule out any underlying conditions.
