how to check purity of shilajit - #24619

Raghav

I am seriously confused about this whole shilajit thing. I started taking shilajit a few months ago after hearing it’s supposed to have all these amazing benefits, right? But I keep reading about how to check purity of shilajit and honestly, it’s stressing me out a bit. I ordered some online from a site that seemed legit, but now I’m wondering how to check purity of shilajit before I end up just wasting my money or worse. Last week, I noticed a weird color in the shilajit I got, and my friend says not all are created equal and some might be mixed with other stuff. I mean, how to check purity of shilajit in a way that I don’t need some fancy lab test? Are there home tests I can do? Like, would it help if I dissolve it in water or something? I'm really hoping someone can share any tips on how to check purity of shilajit easily. The last thing I want is to be putting something into my body that’s not safe or just junk. Does anyone have experiences or simple ways to figure this out? I read some stuff online, but it all sounds kinda technical. Would love any quick advice!

Checking the purity of shilajit at home without expensive lab tests can be a bit of a challenge, but there are a few straightforward methods you can try. Firstly, look at its appearance. Authentic shilajit is usually black or dark brown and has a smooth, resin-like texture. If it’s gritty or light in color, it might be adulterated. A simple test involves dissolving a small piece of shilajit in warm water. Pure shilajit should dissolve completely within a few minutes, leaving no residue, and the solution should become a golden or reddish-brown color. Also, pure shilajit has a distinctive earthy smell and a slightly bitter taste. If it smells off or has a chemical aroma, it might be impure. Another test is the burn test—when you hold a flame to pure shilajit, it will become soft but not burn like a typical resin. Shilajit is often mixed with other substances to increase weight, so these visual and physical properties help identify adulterations. While these tests aren’t foolproof, they can offer a general sense. However, if there’s any doubt about the product’s authenticity and you’re concerned about safety, it might be best to opt for products that come with third-party lab testing guarantees from reputable companies. Always prioritize safety and consider consulting with a healthcare provider, especially if you notice any adverse reactions or have concerns about interactions with other medications or conditions.
