side effects of abc juice - #27133

Navya

I am really troubled with some digestive issues and heard about abc juice, which is this mix of apple, beetroot, and carrot. A few days back, a friend recommended it for its health benefits, but I started drinking it and now I'm wondering if I might be experiencing some side effects of abc juice. I thought it’d help with my energy levels but since I've been taking it, I’ve noticed some stomach cramps and, um, weird bowel movements, like way softer than normal. Plus, my skin has been breaking out a little more than usual, which is kinda weird. I mean, I thought juicing is supposed to be healthy, right? I'm also a bit anxious because my friend said abc juice is super detoxifying and I expect some changes, but this feels a little intense. Could this all be considered common side effects of abc juice? Or am I just being too sensitive? Also should I stop drinking it or maybe just take a smaller amount? I'm honestly confused bc I wanna stay healthy but these side effects of abc juice I’m feeling got me second-guessing everything. Anyone else had these issues or know if there’s something I should be doing differently?

Doctors' responses

Some people do experience side effects from drinking abc juice, which includes a mix of apple, beetroot, and carrot. It sounds like what you’re experiencing could indeed relate to the juice, especially with an increase in bowel activity and potential skin issues. This isn’t unusual. Juices, especially when made from beetroots, can be quite potent due to their detoxifying properties and high content of fiber and natural sugars. It might be that your digestive system is reacting to the sudden increase in fiber and certain compounds found in beets, like betaine, which can be irritating to some people’s stomach.

The softer bowel movements could also be due to the sugar content and the natural laxative effect, mostly if you aren’t used to consuming high amounts of fiber in liquid form. Apple and beetroot have compounds that can lead to increased gut motility, contributing to the softer stools you mentioned. Breaking out can sometimes be associated with detox reactions, but it’s also possible that your skin is reacting to increased consumption of sugars or even to specific allergens within the juice.

You might want to try reducing the amount of abc juice you’re consuming. Start with smaller quantities to see if that minimizes or eliminates the side effects. If you find that even small amounts continue to be problematic, it might be beneficial to consult with a healthcare professional to ensure there’s no underlying condition affecting your reaction. They can offer personalized advice considering your individual health profile.

If you still wish to incorporate these nutrients in your diet, consider consuming apples, beetroot, and carrots in a more balanced form, such as by eating them whole or cooked in balanced portions. That would also help with maintaining the beneficial fiber content without overwhelming your digestive system. Be sure to monitor how your body responds and make adjustments according to what feels best for you.
