curd is good for weight loss - #27455

Vikram

I am trying to lose some weight and needed to find out if curd is good for weight loss. Like, I've heard people raving about curd and its benefits, but honestly, I'm a bit confused. I've been exercising a decent amount and started looking at my diet more closely, kinda keeping track of everything. So the other day, my friend suggested adding curd to my meals, saying "curd is good for weight loss" and it makes sense, but do I really believe that? I mean, I don’t wanna just eat something because someone said it’s healthy. Plus, I tried it with some fruits and it tasted fine but now I'm worried about the calories. I even checked some labels, and some low-fat versions had carbs that made me hesitant. Like what if I’m totally going about this the wrong way? Is there any truth to the idea that curd is good for weight loss, or is it just another health trend people latch onto? How much should I actually be eating? Should I be making it part of my every meal, or is that overkill? I’m kinda looking for some expert opinions here, especially from allopathic docs!

Curd, also known as yogurt, can indeed be a helpful addition to a weight loss plan when consumed in moderation. It’s a nutrient-dense food that’s high in protein and calcium, both of which are important for maintaining muscle mass and bone health while you’re losing weight. The protein content can also help you feel fuller for longer, potentially reducing overall food intake. Opting for plain, low-fat or Greek yogurt versions is usually a good choice because they have less sugar and fat content compared to flavored ones. When looking at labels, it’s important to keep in mind the serving sizes and the sugar content, especially in the flavored or fruit-at-the-bottom options, as these can sneak added sugars into your diet. Including curd once or twice a day could be reasonable depending on your overall calorie and nutrient goals. Combining it with fruits, oats, or nuts can make a balanced meal or snack. It’s not necessary to add curd to every meal, though — it’s all about balance and personal preference. If the carb content is a concern, Greek yogurt is generally lower in carbohydrates than regular yogurt. When trying new foods or diet changes, keep an eye on how your body feels and adjust accordingly. If you feel satisfied and energized keeping curd in your diet, it may be a good component of your weight loss routine. Just remember that weight loss is about the bigger picture, including your entire dietary pattern, physical activity, and calorie balance. It’s always worth consulting with a registered dietitian or nutritionist to personalize your diet further, considering any other health factors that might be at play.
