jaggery vs sugar which is better - #23945
I am confused about this whole jaggery vs sugar thing. Like, I grew up eating jaggery thinking it's this super healthy option, right? But lately, I've been hearing so much about sugar and how it affects our bodies. Just last week, I made some dessert with jaggery, and I felt a bit off after eating it — maybe too much? But then again, a friend told me that jaggery can be better for digestion compared to sugar which had me thinking, is that actually true? My dad has diabetes, which makes me think more about my own sugar intake and what the differences are in jaggery vs sugar. I mean, if jaggery is less processed, does that mean it’s actually better for blood sugar levels, or is it all just a myth? I read somewhere that jaggery has minerals, yet sugar is just empty calories. But how much of a difference does it really make in day-to-day life? I don't want to completely cut out sugar, but if jaggery vs sugar really makes a difference for my health, that would be super important! What do doctors really suggest about this? Is jaggery better, or is it just all the same in the end?
