dolo paracetamol - #27868
I am really confused about why I’m still feeling unwell after taking dolo paracetamol for the past 3 days. I thought it would help my awful headache and the fever that came outta nowhere, but the other day, I clocked in at almost 102°F. My doc told me it would be fine to use dolo paracetamol, but this fever just won’t break. The headaches are more like dull thuds now, and I feel really groggy – not like myself at all. I even tried sleeping as much as I can, but wake up feeling achy and tired. I looked up how often I should take the dolo paracetamol, and I have followed the guidelines, taking it every 6 hours like they said. Is it normal for dolo paracetamol to not work this well? Or could it be something else entirely? I’m sort of getting nervous that it’s not just a virus or something, and maybe there’s something else I should be doing? Should I keep with the dolo paracetamol, or is it time to call again? How long till it works for real? What if it’s masking something more serious? I really didn’t sign up for this! Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Doctors' responses
It seems like the Dolo Paracetamol isn’t quite addressing your symptoms effectively, which can occasionally happen if the underlying cause isn’t just a simple viral infection. Normally, paracetamol is expected to help reduce fever and alleviate mild to moderate pain, often within a couple of hours of taking it. If your temperature remains high and you’re feeling increasingly fatigued or achy after three days of consistent dosage, this is definitely something to be cautious about. It’s possible that the fever and headache might have a different cause, like a bacterial infection or another medical condition, which paracetamol alone can’t treat. If your fever is persistently over 102°F and hasn’t responded as expected, and if your headaches are evolving or not subsiding, it would be prudent to get back in touch with your healthcare provider. Ensure they are aware of the full extent of your symptoms, including the persistent fever, altered headache pattern, and feelings of grogginess. There might be a need for further evaluation or different treatment strategies, perhaps an antibiotic or additional testing to rule out other conditions. It’s also important to make sure you’re well-hydrated, rest as much as possible, and monitor any new or worsening symptoms. Do not delay seeking medical advice if you suspect the condition is severe or not improving; prompt assessment can ensure that any necessary interventions are administered swiftly and safely.
