Doctors’ responses
Pelvic MRI – to confirm fibroid type, location, vascularity (for UFE suitability)
CBC (Complete Blood Count) – to monitor anemia
Iron studies (Serum Ferritin, Iron, TIBC)
Thyroid profile (TSH, FT4) – to rule out hormonal contribution to bleeding
Pelvic Ultrasound (TVS preferred) – to assess endometrial thickness, fibroid location
Hello shweta ji…as u are anemic and don’t want to go through surgery…i would suggest you to go interventional radiologist or any multi-speciality hospital where u have surgery gynecologist and radiologist for any complications during embolization
Considering your symptoms and fibroid size, uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) can be a viable option. UFE is a minimally invasive procedure where small particles are injected into the arteries supplying the fibroids, effectively cutting off their blood supply and leading to shrinkage. This can be particularly useful for those wanting to avoid traditional surgical interventions like laparoscopy. Since you experience heavy bleeding, stomach pain, and low hemoglobin, addressing these symptoms can substantially improve your quality of life. It’s crucial to first confirm the suitability of UFE in your case, especially since your fibroid is submucosal. While UFE is generally effective, submucosal fibroids can occasionally have different responses due to their location within the uterine cavity. Though I can’t recommend specific doctors directly, I suggest looking for interventional radiologists in Delhi, as they typically perform UFE. Consider contacting major hospitals to see their dedicated departments for fibroid management— such as AIIMS or Fortis, which usually have experienced professionals. Make appointments to discuss your specific condition and the UFE procedure intricately. Besides, knowing your complete medical history would help them provide a customized treatment plan. Ensure to discuss the benefits, potential risks, and recovery time with the expert. If confirmed suitable for you, UFE can be an effective and less disruptive option for managing your fibroid-related symptoms.
