Dealing with persistent forehead acne and associated dark spots can indeed be challenging, especially when it seems you’ve already tried different approaches. In this situation, focusing on a few targeted strategies might be beneficial. Since you have dandruff, this could be contributing to your forehead acne, as dandruff and accompanying skin irritation can lead to clogged follicles in this region. Managing dandruff can be a helpful step; consider using a medicated shampoo containing ingredients like ketoconazole, selenium sulfide, or zinc pyrithione to reduce excess scalp flaking and inflammation, and use it at least twice a week. Additionally, maintaining a consistent skincare routine tailored to acne-prone skin is crucial. Look for non-comedogenic skincare products and include ingredients that help prevent acne such as salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide, which can help in managing active breakouts. Retinoids, either topical over-the-counter options or prescription-strength ones, can improve skin turnover, reduce acne and fade dark spots over time, though they can make skin sensitive to the sun, so sunscreen use is non-negotiable. When applying any topical treatments, avoid the hairline to prevent further irritation or clogging. For persistent discoloration, products with ingredients such as niacinamide or azelaic acid may help lighten dark spots. Also, since you’ve already seen dermatologists, consider discussing the option of chemical peels, laser therapy, or other dermatologic procedures that may help improve scars and dark spots further. Since hair thinning and a receding hairline could be worsened by dandruff, managing scalp health is also key to potentially improving hair loss. Reducing stress, eating a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables, and good hydration are practical daily lifestyle steps that can support overall skin and hair health.
