Homeopathic Hair Loss Treatment - #10762

Naman

I am 21 years old, facing severe hairfall, dandruff, scalp itching, and white/grey hairs. It may be genetic because both my father and grandfather are bald. 20-30 hair strands fall from my head daily. My head is sweaty. I have receding hairline and crown is starting to be visible now. Please prescribe homeopathy medicine.

Doctors’ responses

Homeopathy isn’t typically grounded in the kind of evidence-based approach that I’m familiar with as a general practitioner, so I can’t prescribe homeopathic remedies. However, I can provide some other useful advice regarding your hair loss. It’s important first to recognize that hair loss at a young age can be distressing but isn’t uncommon. Genetic patterns like androgenetic alopecia, especially with your family history, is a common cause. Managing it involves a few strategies—focusing on medical, lifestyle, and hygiene factors. Medically, treatments such as minoxidil (Rogaine) can help increase hair density and slow down hair loss. Finasteride is another medication often used for male pattern baldness but requires a prescription and may have side effects to consider. Keeping your scalp clean and addressing the dandruff may help reduce the symptom burden—use anti-dandruff shampoos containing ketoconazole or zinc pyrithione several times a week. If your scalp is itchy and there’s persistent dandruff that doesn’t improve, you might have seborrheic dermatitis or another dermatological condition needing a dermatologist’s opinion. Lifestyle changes like reducing stress, having a balanced diet rich in proteins, vitamins, and iron, and avoiding excessive heat styling might also be beneficial. If you’re really interested in homeopathy or alternative medicine, I’d recommend discussing it with a professional trained in those areas, but also ensure to keep regular follow-ups with a dermatologist to monitor your condition effectively.
