Irregular periods, especially after using medications like Primolut-N and isotretinoin, can be concerning but not uncommon. Primolut-N, a synthetic form of progesterone, is often utilized to induce menstruation or manage menstrual disorders. A two-day period might point to a response, but its brevity and the subsequent three-month gap could indicate an underlying hormonal imbalance or effect of isotretinoin, which is known for its possible impact on menstruation. Isotretinoin, primarily used for acne treatment, is known to cause menstrual irregularities due to its effects on hormones and skin. Either medication can disrupt the menstrual cycle temporarily, so the combination might extend the time required for your cycle to regularize. It’s essential to take a holistic approach. First, consider scheduling a visit with your healthcare provider for a detailed evaluation. They might recommend checking hormone levels or ruling out conditions like Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) or thyroid disorders, other frequent causes of irregular periods. Meanwhile, managing lifestyle factors, like stress reduction, regular exercise, and a balanced diet, can support hormonal balance and cycle regulation. If pregnancy is a possibility, conducting a home test could be a prudent first step. Since medical oversight is crucial in such scenarios, unmonitored intake of hormonal medication should be avoided. Your healthcare provider might consider options like oral contraceptive pills to regularize cycles, depending on your medical history and current health conditions. Always ensure any continuing use of isotretinoin or similar medications is supervised by a dermatologist to monitor potential side effects and interactions. While awaiting a medical evaluation, track any symptoms or patterns, as they can provide valuable insights for your healthcare professional.
Hello Haritha Once you have finished taking a course of Primolut N, you will usually have a menstrual bleed (period) 2-3 days after taking your last tablet. If you do not have a period, you must make sure that you are not pregnant before taking any more tablets. Have you done further upt or usg for confirmation of pregnancy?
Hello dear See as per clinical history there can be chances of hormonal fluctuations or physiological variation I suggest you to please get following tests done for confirmation Serum ferritin Serum progesterone Serum prolactin Pelvic USG Serum RBS Serum TSH Urine analysis I suggest you to please share the details with gynacolologist in person for better clarification. Please donot take any medications without consulting the concerned doctor However you can replace isotretinoin with tusli alovera gel It is more beneficial Hopefully you recover soon Regards
1.Irregular periods after using Primolut-N and isotretinoin are usually due to hormonal imbalance rather than a permanent problem.
2.Sometimes these medicines delay the body’s natural cycle, especially if periods were already irregular before.
3.Stress, weight changes, diet, and hormonal conditions like PCOS can also contribute to missed periods.
4.To correct it, you may need a short course of medicines prescribed by a gynecologist after checking hormones, thyroid, and ultrasound.
5.Do not worry with proper treatment and lifestyle balance, your cycles can return to normal.
Hello, For the delayed periods, you need proper evaluation before any treatment. You can get these tests done and visit the gynaec doctor: 1. CBC 2. Thyroid profile 3. Serum Prolactin 4. Serum LH and FSH 5. Ultrasound-Pelvis & Lower abdomen
Take care
