after applying aloe vera on face what to do - #18212

Kian

I am really confused after applying aloe vera on my face yesterday. I heard it's supposed to be great for skin, but now I’m like… what to do next?!! I mean, I applied a generous amount, thinking it’ll help with some irritating dryness I’ve been dealing with, but now I feel like I messed something up. Do I wash it off right away or just leave it? I read somewhere that after applying aloe vera on face what to do can change based on your skin type, so I'm worried I might be doing this all wrong! My skin tends to be oily in some spots and really dry in other places, it’s a total nightmare to manage. I’m also wondering if I need to add any moisturizer afterward or leave it bare. I just didn’t expect my skin to react this way! It also feels a bit sticky, and I'm not sure if aloe vera is supposed to do that? Some say I shouldn’t mix it with other products but I was planning to use some serum after, now I’m hesitating. Could really use some advice here on after applying aloe vera on face what to do – like, is it okay to layer products or should I just keep it simple? Would love to hear what others do!

Doctors' responses

After applying aloe vera on your face, it’s generally okay to leave it on and let your skin absorb the benefits unless you experience any discomfort or irritation. Aloe vera naturally dries on the skin, which might feel a bit sticky initially, so if that’s uncomfortable, you could gently rinse it off with lukewarm water after about 20-30 minutes. Given your combination skin type, integrating aloe vera should ideally help balance dryness without exacerbating oily areas. However, if your skin feels dry or tight after the aloe vera has dried, you might consider applying a light, non-comedogenic moisturizer. This can help maintain hydration, especially in the drier areas of your face. It’s crucial to choose a moisturizer that fits your specific skin needs, avoiding heavy or oil-based products in the oily zones. Regarding layering products, you can use a serum after aloe vera. Just make sure that the aloe vera is fully absorbed or rinsed off to prevent any layering issues. Serums can be effective as long as they’re suitable for your skin type. Be cautious since some serums may contain ingredients that can irritate sensitive or already dry skin. To create a routine that’s less overwhelming, you might want to try and keep things simple at first. Observe how your skin responds to aloe vera on its own, and then gradually introduce other products. Remember, if you encounter significant irritation or unexpected reactions, it is wise to pause and consult a dermatologist for tailored advice. Skin reactions differ among individuals, making personalization key in skincare routines.
