how to increase hair volume - #22131

Vihaan

I am really struggling with my hair lately! Like, it used to be thick and full, but now it feels so flat and lifeless, especially after I shower. I don’t know if it’s stress or what, but I really want to know how to increase hair volume. I’ve tried different shampoos and conditioners that say they add volume, but I honestly don’t see much of a difference. My friend recommended some styling products, but they make my hair feel sticky and weighed down. I also read about how diet might impact hair health, so I’ve started eating more protein and veggies, but I can't tell if it’s helping. It's frustrating because I used to love my hair and now it feels like a total drag! Is there any solid advice on how to increase hair volume that actually works? Also, does anyone know if there are specific hairstyles or techniques when blow-drying that help? I feel like I’ve tried everything and I’m just lost here. Would really appreciate any tips or personal experiences! Thank you!

When it comes to increasing hair volume, you’re definitely on the right track with considering multiple factors like diet and haircare products. Let’s break this down a bit. Firstly, ensuring you’re getting enough protein is crucial since hair is primarily made of keratin, a protein. So keep up with those protein-rich foods. Also, consider a balanced intake of iron, zinc, and vitamins like biotin, which can support hair health – although results aren’t immediate, they can aid in the overall health of your hair over time.

In terms of washing, using a volumizing shampoo can be helpful, but make sure it’s not leaving residue that could weigh your hair down. Parabens and sulfates in shampoos can strip your hair of its natural oils, so aim for gentler, sulfate-free formulas. When it comes to conditioning, apply conditioner only to the ends, or if your hair is fine, perhaps use a leave-in spray conditioner to avoid added heaviness at the roots.

Styling wise, when blow-drying, try bending over and drying your hair upside down – this elevates the roots, enhancing volume. Another effective technique is to use a round brush and lift sections of hair upward while drying, setting the roots with air to keep them lifted. If you’re open to it, using styling products like mousse can boost volume, but apply it sparingly at the roots rather than all over to minimize stickiness and heaviness.

Haircuts can play a role too—layers can give the illusion of thickness by adding movement and fullness. Maybe try consulting a professional hairdresser for a cut suited to your hair texture and length for optimal volume. Remember, any sudden or significant change in your hair’s texture or volume might warrant a chat with a dermatologist or healthcare professional to rule out any underlying health issues. Whatever you choose, give each change some time for results to manifest—the goal is to keep your haircare regimen consistent.
