how to use multani mitti - #22132

Ayush

I am really curious about how to use multani mitti because I've heard so much about it but honestly, I’m kinda lost. A few weeks ago, I noticed my skin was looking super dull and I have these tiny bumps that just won't go away. My friend suggested trying multani mitti, but I have no clue how to use it properly. I tried putting it directly on my face mixed with water and left it for like 15 mins, but my skin got a lil red after, and I panicked. Is that normal? Are there specific ways how to use multani mitti to avoid that reaction? Also, what’s the best way to mix it? I mean, I heard you could add rose water or honey but maybe I overdid it? My skin gets oily sometimes too, and I want to make sure I'm not making it worse. I really want to use multani mitti for my skin because I’ve seen great results on others but I just feel confused and frustrated. Any tips on how to use multani mitti correctly would be super helpful. Thanks!

Multani mitti, also known as Fuller’s Earth, has been a popular remedy for various skin issues, often used as a face mask for its oil-absorbing properties. It can help improve the appearance of dull skin and may even assist with those tiny bumps. However, it’s important to tailor its use to your skin type to prevent irritation. Since you experienced redness, let’s tweak the application. First, mixing multani mitti with water can be too drying, especially if used alone. Your friend mentioned rose water, which is a great idea. Try mixing a tablespoon of multani mitti with rose water to form a smooth paste; this solution can help soothe your skin and balance its pH. Honey is another good addition, offering moisturizing and antimicrobial benefits, but you need to keep it balanced. You could try a simple mask: mix 1 tablespoon of multani mitti with equal parts of rose water and a teaspoon of honey. This combo can provide hydration while reducing oiliness. Apply the mask evenly on your face, avoiding sensitive areas like around the eyes. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes but don’t let it dry completely, as over-drying can lead to irritation and redness. After this, rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry. Follow up with a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated. Use this mask once or twice a week, based on how your skin reacts. With oily skin, moderation is key since overuse can lead to dryness or irritation. If you continue to experience redness or discomfort, discontinue use and consult a dermatologist—there might be underlying sensitivities that need to be addressed. Always do a patch test when trying any new skincare product to ensure there’s no adverse reaction. This way you can find a balance that works for your skin type.
