how to increase time in sex

Mira

I am feeling super frustrated lately. I’ve been married for about 7 years, and I love my partner, but I gotta admit, I’m really concerned about how to increase time in sex. It’s just not lasting as long as it used to, and that’s driving me nuts. We were in ours honeymoon phase, where we could go for ages. Lately tho, I'm finding it’s more like a rushed visit than anything, and we both want to enjoy it more. I read somewhere that stress can play a role, and honestly, work has been really hectic these days. Plus, I’ve tried a few things like focusing on foreplay, but it still doesn’t seem to really help increase time in sex. A couple of friends suggested kegel exercises and breathing techniques, which I’m willing to try, but I’m skeptical if that’ll actually work. Is there any safe ways or methods that might help us? Any advice from doctors or people who have been through this and knows how to increase time in sex would be super helpful. I just want us to get that intimacy back! Thank you!

Doctors' responses

To address the issue of increasing time during sex, it’s essential to consider both physical and psychological factors. Stress, as you pointed out, can indeed impact sexual performance, and managing that stress can be pivotal. Techniques like mindfulness or meditation might be beneficial in reducing stress and improving focus during intimate moments. Since this hasn’t yielded the results you hoped for, it’s also worth considering other angles. Pelvic floor exercises, such as kegel exercises, can enhance muscle control critical to sexual endurance. To start, try flexing your pelvic muscles for a few seconds several times throughout the day—you’ll know you’re doing it right if you stop and start the flow of urine when you’re in the bathroom. Breathing techniques, aiming for slow and steady breaths, can help with regulation and maintaining focus, potentially prolonging the experience. These methods, ideally practiced over time, can build stamina without requiring drastic life changes. If these strategies don’t make a noticeable impact, it might be beneficial to have a conversation with a healthcare professional specializing in sexual health. Sometimes, short-duration sexual performance can be linked to underlying medical conditions or lifestyle factors that need addressing. Identifying any potential underlying causes through a health check-up could guide more tailored interventions suited to your situation. It’s also key that both partners are on the same page and addressing intimate issues together, ensuring a supportive, communicative approach to enhance shared experiences. If any new symptoms arise or self-help techniques prove ineffective, it’s smart to seek professional guidance. This ensures that any significant issues are addressed adequately while exploring other medical or therapeutic interventions which might be suitable.
