how to increase your sex time

Tara

I am really struggling with something and just need some real advice on how to increase your sex time. My partner and I have been together for a few years now, and things started off really hot and heavy. But lately, I feel like we’re not as connected in that way anymore, and I'm kinda worried. I mean, I’m not talking about like, an hour-long session or whatever, but even the 15-20 minutes we used to have just seems to be dwindling. I don’t know if it’s stress from work or something physical, but sometimes I can hardly keep it together before things just... well, finish too soon, you know? I've tried a few things—like focusing on my breathing and even some over-the-counter stuff—but nothing seems to help. I wonder if diet has anything to do with how to increase your sex time? Or is it more mental? My partner is super supportive and understanding, but it’s really frustrating for both of us, and I’m feeling embarrassed about it. I just want to know if there are practical things we can try or if I should maybe see a doctor? Anyone else been through this? How to increase your sex time without making it awkward?

Increasing the duration of sexual activity can be a concern for many, and several practical strategies might help. To start, focusing on stress reduction can be pivotal, as high levels of stress or anxiety often lead to issues like premature ejaculation. Techniques such as deep breathing or mindfulness exercises could enhance your ability to focus, potentially extending sexual intercourse. Reducing stress means addressing lifestyle factors—get regular exercise, maintain a healthy sleep schedule, and manage work pressures. Your diet can also play a role; a balanced diet high in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats might support overall sexual health and stamina. Ensure you’re getting appropriate levels of zinc and omega-3 fatty acids. Hydration is key too—dehydration may impact endurance.

Mentally, some find gradual desensitization techniques useful. The “stop-start” or “squeeze” techniques can allow you to practice holding off ejaculation; you’d need to repeat these regularly to see benefits. Communication with your partner is essential—consider incorporating more foreplay, taking the pressure off penetrative intercourse alone to meet both partners’ needs can improve connection and reduce pressure. Over-the-counter supplements might not be effective or safe; look for options like topical anesthetics but with caution, perhaps under supervision if concerns persist.

If home strategies don’t help, it may be wise to consult a healthcare professional. They can rule out underlying health issues like hormonal imbalances or psychological factors that might need specific treatments. Sometimes medication such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) is prescribed for prolonged periods under medical guidance. It’s definitely worth speaking with your doctor to explore these potential routes, and ensure your approach aligns with your health status. This includes reviewing any current medications as some may influence sexual performance. It’s important to tackle this without embarrassment—you’re not alone, and effective solutions can often be found after comprehensive exploration.
