does masturbation affect height - #23005

Rohan

I am really confused and worried about something that's been on my mind lately. I'm 16, and all my friends keep saying that masturbation affects height, like it can stunt your growth or something. I don't even know where this idea came from! I mean, I recently went for a check-up and the doctor said I’m in the average height range for my age. But now all these doubts are creeping in. I’ve noticed I’ve been feeling a bit shorter than some of my classmates who are like towers, seriously! I can’t help but wonder if this is linked to my habits. Does masturbation affect height, or is that just some weird myth? My older brother told me nothing really can stop growth other than genetics and nutrition. But when I hear all these rumors circulating at school, it makes me question everything! I've read mixed opinions online too. Some say it doesn't really have any impact but others insist it does. Can anyone help clarify if does masturbation affect height? I’m seriously starting to stress about this!

Doctors' responses

Masturbation does not affect height. This idea is indeed a myth. Your height is primarily determined by genetics, along with factors influenced by your overall health and nutrition during your growing years. Engaging in masturbation doesn’t influence these factors. Your body undergoes various changes during puberty, and it’s normal to have concerns about growth and development. Comparisons to friends can be misleading since each person’s growth rate can vary significantly. At 16, it’s common for some teenagers to grow at different paces, and you might find yourself catching up soon or having another growth spurt ahead. It’s important to maintain a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet, regular physical activity, and adequate sleep to support your body’s natural development. If you’re still concerned about your height or growth patterns, it may feel helpful to talk to a doctor or healthcare provider. They can provide reassurance based on your health history and development and can answer any specific questions. Remember, myths like these often circulate with little to no scientific basis, and it’s always best to rely on medical advice from credible sources. It’s good to be curious and ask questions like these, but rest assured, masturbation isn’t stunting your growth in any way.
