which juice is good for gastric problem - #23875

Advait

I am really struggling with my gastric problem lately. Like, I used to enjoy my meals without thinking but now it seems like every little thing bothers me. Just last week, I ate a sandwich that I thought was fine, but then I ended up bloated and in pain for hours! I did some research and came across this question: which juice is good for gastric problem? I mean, I've heard about some juices helping with digestion, but I'm not sure which ones are actually effective. I tried drinking some apple juice, but that didn't seem to help at all. Then I heard watermelon juice might be good??? But is there any scientific proof! My doctor mentioned avoiding acidic foods, so I guess citrus juices are out? Honestly, I’m just worried because if I don’t figure this out soon, I might have to change my whole diet. I also tried some ginger tea, which felt calming at the time, but not really longlasting relief. I want to know which juice is good for gastric problem before I end up in a position where I can't eat anything without feeling horrible. What are your go-to options for drinks that I shouldn't miss? Please help!

Doctors' responses

When dealing with gastric problems like bloating and discomfort, choosing the right juice can indeed make a difference. One of the juices that’s known for its soothing properties is aloe vera juice. It’s been traditionally and scientifically supported for its potential to reduce gastric acid secretion and has anti-inflammatory properties, which might help manage symptoms like bloating and discomfort. Make sure to choose one marketed as safe for internal use and drink it in moderation. Ginger juice is another good option considering your previous experience with ginger tea; it can be helpful because of its known ability to promote digestive health, soothing the stomach and easing discomfort during digestion. Watermelon juice, which you mentioned, is generally mild and hydrating and can be a suitable choice, especially if your symptoms include dehydration. Its high water content may help, but it’s not specifically backed by strong evidence as a remedy for gastric issues like aloe or ginger is. As for citrus juices and apple juices, your doctor’s advice holds because these can be acidic and potentially aggravate your symptoms due to their higher acid content. Pay attention to foods or drinks that seem to consistently cause discomfort, and consider avoiding them, focusing instead on those with a calming, soothing effect. Remember that managing portion sizes and avoiding known trigger foods alongside these juices can further support your digestive health. If symptoms persist or worsen, it’s crucial to follow up with your healthcare provider, as they can determine whether there’s a more involved underlying issue that needs addressing.
