what are the side effects of masterbation - #23950

Neil

I am kind of freaking out here. For a while now, I’ve been doing some research on what are the side effects of masterbation. I knwo it’s a common thing and everyone does it, but I’ve started to feel a bit off lately. Like, sometimes my energy just plummets for no reason after I do it. I read somewhere that what are the side effects of masterbation could include fatigue and even mood swings? I mean, I didn’t think it’d be a big deal but the other day I felt super low after, and it left me wondering if I’m doing something wrong! Also, my friends joke about it all the time, but what if there’s really an underlying issue? A couple of weeks ago I had this intense headache after and I can’t help but think what are the side effects of masterbation that I’m not considering. I try to keep it all in balance but now I’m like questioning... is this normal? Do you guys think I should cut back or is there any way I can make sure it doesn’t affect me negatively? Feeling pretty lost on this and could really use some insights.

Masturbation is indeed a common activity, and in general, it’s considered a normal part of sexual health. However, like any aspect of our physical and mental health, it can have side effects that vary from person to person. For most people, masturbation does not cause adverse effects, but there are instances when someone might experience symptoms like fatigue, mood changes, or even physical symptoms such as headaches. The act itself isn’t harmful, but if it’s associated with feelings of guilt, anxiety, or is impacting your daily life negatively, it might be worth taking a step back and reflecting on your habits.

Fatigue afterwards could be attributed to the physical exertion or release of hormones like dopamine and oxytocin, which can create feelings of relaxation or tiredness. If these feelings are persistent or particularly disruptive, consider the timing and frequency of your masturbation. It might help to explore whether other factors like sleep, stress, nutrition, or exercise are contributing to how you feel. Headaches can occur occasionally due to the physical exertion or tension during the activity.

Mood swings might be linked with psychological factors, such as guilt or societal stigma attached to masturbation, rather than the act itself. If these issues are hindering you, it may be beneficial to speak with a mental health professional who can provide strategies rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy to help navigate these feelings.

You don’t necessarily need to cut back entirely, but it might be helpful to moderate your frequency to see if it has any impact on your symptoms. Keeping a journal to track when these feelings or symptoms occur can provide valuable insight and help identify any patterns or accompanying lifestyle factors that might be a cause. If you find that after altering these behaviors, symptoms persist or worsen, do consider discussing with a healthcare provider for further evaluation. Remember, a well-rounded approach to health considers all aspects of your lifestyle, so ensuring balanced nutrition, adequate sleep, and effective stress management will contribute to better overall wellbeing too.
