how to stop vomiting in dengue

Simran

I am really worried about my cousin. He just got diagnosed with dengue and the poor guy has been vomiting like crazy. He’s even said he just can't keep anything down, you know? It's been three days and he's really weak. We took him to the hospital, and the doctors said to watch his hydration, but, like, how to stop vomiting in dengue? They gave him some meds, but they don't seem to be helping much. We tried ginger tea and all that stuff but it’s hit or miss. I read about people using probiotics and other home remedies too, but honestly, I don’t know what’s really safe to try for someone with dengue. I just feel so helpless! If anyone has experience with this, like, how to stop vomiting in dengue, please share! Should we push for stronger meds? Or are there dietary things we can do that actually work? His nausea seems to come in waves and before he got sick he was such a foodie, now he just stares at his plate like he wants to cry. We need to figure out how to stop vomiting in dengue, like, ASAP! Any tips would be super appreciated!

When dealing with vomiting in dengue, it’s crucial to focus on hydration and addressing the nausea, but keep in mind that some levels of vomiting may be part of the illness’s course. Staying well-hydrated is fundamental since fluid loss can lead to more severe complications. Encourage small sips of an oral rehydration solution (ORS) or electrolyte-infused beverages. They offer a manageable way to deliver fluids and essential minerals. While ginger tea can sometimes ease nausea, be cautious of its potential limitations. Medications like antiemetics might help, but it’s essential to continue this under a doctor’s guidance, particularly if the current ones aren’t effective. Rather than seeking additional home remedies or probiotics, which might not be suitable in this case, emphasizing a bland, low-fat diet in small, frequent meals could be more helpful. Gentle snacks like dry crackers or toast can sometimes stave off nausea without overloading the digestive system. Elevating the head while lying down may also reduce nausea waves. If vomiting persists or dehydration increases, return to a healthcare professional promptly; intravenous fluids could become necessary if oral intake remains challenging. It’s essential to monitor for warning signs such as bleeding or severe abdominal pain, which may require immediate intervention. Importantly, dengue can progress unpredictably, so ongoing medical oversight is vital. Always balance self-care steps with medical advice — don’t hesitate to escalate to hospital care if symptoms worsen or don’t improve.
