can a deviated septum cause sleep apnea - #26222
I am really struggling with sleep lately and I don't know what's going on. My friend was telling me about how a deviated septum could cause all these issues, which I didn’t think much about until I saw my doctor recently. For years, I’ve been snoring so loud that my partner literally sleeps in another room sometimes! 😩 I’ve been waking up feeling super tired and like, I can barely keep my eyes open while driving. Ugh, it’s frustrating. The other night, I actually stopped breathing for a few seconds while sleeping, and it freaked me out. I had a sleep study done and they mentioned that I might have sleep apnea. The thing is, I have this evident nose problem, like I can’t breathe through one side at all, and I’m starting to think — can a deviated septum cause sleep apnea? I mean, is there a connection between those two? Ever since I learned what a deviated septum is, I can’t help but wonder if that’s what's screwing me up. I really don't want to go through invasive tests or procedures if this is just something that can be fixed with an adjustment or, idk, maybe surgery? I mean, should I be looking at fixing my nose first or just dive into the sleep apnea thing itself? Would love some opinions from anyone who knows more about this!
