kishmish water - #27685
I am feeling super confused about this whole kishmish water thing. Last week, my friend told me she’s been drinking it every morning and swears it helps with energy and digestion. I’ve tried different things for my low energy and bloating, so I thought why not give it a shot, right? I soaked some kishmish overnight, really, like, a lot of it, and drank the water first thing upon waking up. The taste was kinda funky but not bad. But here's where I'm stuck, every time I drink it, I feel this weird, sorta heavy feeling in my stomach, like I ate something that didn’t sit right. Not to mention, I read online that kishmish water can sometimes cause loose stools for some peeps -- and I have already been dealing with this off and on for a while. Could this happen just from the kishmish water? Or am I just overthinking it? Also, how much should I be drinking to actually see some benefits? It’s confusing because my friend said she felt amazing, but I’m kinda questioning if it’s really for me. I don't wanna mess up my digestion more, ya know? Can too much kishmish water backfire or something? Hope to hear from ya'll soon!

Doctors' responses
Kishmish water, essentially raisin water, has gained some attention for potential health benefits like improved energy and digestion, although scientific backing on it is rather sparse. Raisins do contain dietary fiber and several vitamins which can aid in digestion, but your experience of a heavy feeling in your stomach might indicate that your system reacts differently. Your friend’s positive response might not necessarily translate to the same for you, especially considering the individual variation in how our digestive systems handle different foods and drinks. The heaviness and potential loose stools could indeed be related to the raisin water. Raisins contain fructans and sorbitol, which, for some people, can be difficult to digest and may lead to bloating or diarrhea-like symptoms, especially if consumed in excess. You mentioned that you soaked quite a lot of kishmish, which might contribute to the discomfort.
When introducing something new to your diet, especially when you’re already dealing with digestive issues, it’s often safer to start small. You may want to try soaking fewer raisins, say a tablespoon, for your next attempt if you choose to continue. Observe how your body responds and gradually increase if you feel comfortable. However, considering your previous bouts of loose stools, it might be wise to seek alternatives or consult with a healthcare provider for personalized advice. An underlying condition or food sensitivity could be the culprit of your digestive issues, and getting to the root of the matter could save you further discomfort. Remember, not all purported remedies work for everyone, and it’s important to find what aligns best with your system without inadvertently making things worse.
