is dolo paracetamol - #28151

Avni

I am really worried about my health lately. For the last few weeks, I've been dealing with some really bad headaches and fever. My doctor prescribed me is dolo paracetamol, saying it’s great for reducing fever and relieving pain. But honestly, I’m a bit confused about what is dolo paracetamol actually and how it really works. I took it a few times, and the pain kinda went away, but then it always came back. Is it supposed to just mask the symptoms? And if I’ve taken it regularly, like nearly every day for a week, am I gonna have any side effects or something? I read some stuff online where people said they had liver issues after long-term use of paracetamol, and now I’m freakin out. Is it safe to use is dolo paracetamol in high doses if my fever returns, or will that just make things worse? Should I be considering other medications instead? Sometimes I feel like I just need something stronger, you know? Anyway, I’d really love any advice. Thanks!

Dolo Paracetamol, as you mentioned, is a form of paracetamol, which is widely used for its pain-relieving (analgesic) and fever-reducing (antipyretic) properties. It works by inhibiting the production of certain chemicals in the brain called prostaglandins, which are involved in pain and fever. While it can help manage symptoms like headaches and fever, it doesn’t address the underlying cause of these symptoms. It’s important to understand that persistent headaches or fever might indicate an underlying health issue that requires further medical evaluation, so be sure to follow up with your healthcare provider if symptoms persist or worsen.

Regarding safety, paracetamol is generally safe when used within recommended doses. However, consuming high doses, especially over 4,000 mg per day or more prolonged use than recommended, can indeed lead to liver damage. If you’ve been using Dolo Paracetamol daily for a week, be cautious about not exceeding the daily limit, and discuss any concerns with your doctor. If ever in doubt, blood tests can check liver function to ensure everything’s working fine. It’s crucial to avoid alcohol consumption alongside paracetamol as it can further increase the risk of liver damage.

Exploring non-pharmacological options like staying hydrated, resting, or using warm compresses might also alleviate symptoms. If your current regimen isn’t relieving your headaches effectively or you need something stronger, there might be other medications available that your doctor can prescribe after assessing your symptoms. It’s essential to consult your healthcare provider before making any changes to ensure you’re treated safely and effectively based on your overall health picture.
