What to do for chest pain and difficulty swallowing after taking doxycycline for lung infection? - #30243
Hello doctor, I have been taking Unidox (doxycycline) for inflammation/infection in my right lung for the past few days. After about 3 days of taking the capsules, I started experiencing: - Strong burning sensation in my chest after taking the capsule - Pain in the upper right side of my chest - Pain around the breastbone area - Difficulty swallowing - Feeling like food was getting stuck in my chest (this improved later) - Mild irritation/discomfort in my throat and upper esophagus Currently: - Swallowing has improved and food no longer feels stuck - I still have mild pain/discomfort in the upper right chest and throat/esophagus area - Sleeping is uncomfortable because of the irritation I was taking the capsules with large amounts of water and usually after eating. Could this be irritation/inflammation of the esophagus from doxycycline, or could it be related to my lung inflammation? And can you give me some advice? Thank you.
