Doctors’ responses
Hello,
Yes ,these symptoms are generally NORMAL immune responses to the vaccine and not a cause for alarm.
Mild side effects such as headache, low-grade fever, fatigue, or soreness at the injection site are common after rabies vaccination and usually resolve within a few days.
Please complete the full course of vaccination
If symptoms persist beyond 3 days or become severe, please consult a physician in person.
I hope this helps Thank you
Hello dear See after careful evaluation of your query, you are safe since dog is fully vaccinated and you also have taken rabies vaccine You are safe and these symptoms are typically side-effects of vaccine which is immuno modulator in nature I suggest you to please complete full course of vaccine to be 100 percent safer in future Hopefully no complications could occur in future Regards
Hello Anshu Yes these symptoms are because of vaccine… your body immune system is making response so its totally fine and normal . Nothing to worry about that but … Just make sure to complete the full vaccine schedule (usually on Day 0, 3, 7, and 14).
Thank you
Rabies cannot develop if you have taken the vaccine correctly and your dog remains healthy it’s 100% preventable when treated like you did. So yes, you are safe. There is no need for extra treatment just complete your vaccine doses as per schedule and keep calm.

Hi Dear Anshu Kumar, Kindly donot panic Nail scratch from a vaccinated dog doesnt harm you And post vaccination people do get headache and chills kindly donot worry YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY SAFE and kindly finish the vaccine course take care
Mild headache and fever after a rabies vaccine are common and usually normal reactions. Since the dog is vaccinated, the scratch was minor, and you took the vaccine promptly, your risk of rabies is extremely low. Specialist consultation is advised (Doctor/Healthcare provider) to monitor symptoms and complete post-exposure care.
When you receive a rabies vaccine, especially the first dose, it’s not uncommon to experience some mild side effects like headache or a slight fever. These are typically your body’s natural response to the vaccine as it works to build immunity. Assuming your dog is fully vaccinated and the scratch was minor, your risk of rabies exposure is already low. However, vaccination is a precaution often recommended with potential exposure. It’s crucial to monitor for more severe symptoms. If the side effects you mentioned are mild and go away on their own, there’s generally no cause for concern. However, if the symptoms persist or worsen, it’s a good idea to get checked by a healthcare professional. In rare cases, people can have allergic reactions to vaccines, so watch for signs like a rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing—these require immediate medical attention. To address the vaccine side effects, staying hydrated, resting, and taking over-the-counter pain relievers like acetaminophen or ibuprofen can help manage the symptoms. Ensure you complete the entire rabies vaccination schedule as advised by your healthcare provider. It’s always important to consult with a healthcare professional if you’re unsure or need personalized guidance regarding your symptoms and next steps. Make sure to also maintain updated vaccinations for your pets to prevent potential health risks in the future.
Hello Anshu, I understand your concern. Your fever and headache are probably due to the effect of the vaccine. It is very common and self - limiting. No need to worry.
Take Tab. Paracetamol 500mg when you have more headache / fever, you’ll be fine.
Still if you have doubts, Kindly get a physical consultation with an Infectious disease specialist or a Physician. He will clear all your doubts.
Feel free to reach out again.
