does sabja seeds delay periods

Reet

I am dealing with something a bit concerning lately. I've always had a pretty regular cycle, but after trying out sabja seeds for the first time a couple of months ago, my periods have been kinda off. I started incorporating these seeds into my morning smoothies because I heard they were healthy and had tons of benefits. But now, I can't shake off this weird feeling—my last cycle was really late, and I’m starting to wonder: does sabja seeds delay periods? It’s like, I was reading that they can mess with hormones or something? I mean, I thought they were supposed to be good for digestion and all, but I'm not so sure anymore. I was talking to a friend who also tried them, and she said her periods were off too. Is it just me?? I also feel a little cramping, but not the normal kind. Just lingering stuff, which is annoying. Doctors say hormonal balance is key, right? But do sabja seeds somehow disturb that balance or is it just me stressing over nothing? Should I cut them out of my diet or maybe try something else? Any insight would be really appreciated! Thanks!

Doctors' responses

Sabja seeds, also known as basil seeds, are indeed praised for their health benefits, especially for digestion and cooling properties. However, there’s no robust scientific evidence directly linking sabja seeds to delayed menstrual cycles or hormonal imbalance. Hormonal fluctuations and menstrual irregularities can result from numerous factors including stress, changes in diet or exercise, weight fluctuations, and underlying medical conditions. If your cycle has been irregular and you suspect it might be linked to introducing sabja seeds, it’s reasonable to temporarily eliminate them to see if your symptoms persist. Since you mentioned cramping that’s not typical for you, it would be prudent to monitor any additional symptoms. It’s unlikely that the seeds themselves are a direct cause, but individual bodies can react differently to dietary changes. If you experience persistent irregularities or other concerning symptoms, consider tracking your cycle carefully to identify any patterns and consult a healthcare provider to rule out other causes. They can conduct a more thorough evaluation and might suggest tests to ensure your hormonal levels and reproductive health are properly assessed. Meanwhile, ensure you’re maintaining a balanced diet, managing stress, and keeping track of any new products or supplements you’re consuming. If symptoms persist or worsen, prompt medical attention is advisable for a personalized assessment and guidance.
