can we drink soaked raisins water - #27308

Advika

I am trying to figure out something and need some advice. Lately, I’ve been feeling kinda sluggish and my friend told me about this soaked raisins water thing. Like, she swears by it for energy and digestive health. So, I tried soaking some raisins overnight and drank the water, but now I wonder, can we drink soaked raisins water regularly? I mean, I thought it tasted sweet and actually nice, but then I remembered hearing somewhere that too much of anything isn’t good. Also, I read some where that soaked raisins can actually have benefits like improving iron levels and stuff. Has anyone experienced that? I sometimes have stomach issues, and I was thinking, can we drink soaked raisins water if you have sensitive stomach? Would it upset it or be a good thing? This is all kinda new to me and I just want to make sure I'm not messing up my health. Any thoughts from you guys? Can we drink soaked raisins water every day, or should I limit it? Just trying to balance everything you know? Thanks!

Doctors' responses

Drinking soaked raisins water isn’t inherently harmful, and in fact, it can be part of a balanced diet when consumed in moderation. Raisins are high in sugar, but they also provide some essential nutrients like iron, potassium, and antioxidants. The water itself isn’t very different in terms of these nutritional benefits, though it mostly captures soluble vitamins and minerals leached out from the raisins. If you find it’s giving you more energy or having a positive impact on digestion, that could be due to the slight boost in natural sugars and hydration, alongside the dietary fiber and small amounts of iron present in raisins. However, consuming it regularly is generally safe unless you have a particular condition that requires limiting sugar intake, such as diabetes, or if you’re prone to digestive discomfort since some people may experience gas or bloating from high fructose content. For sensitive stomachs, it might be alright to start with a small amount, observe any reactions, and incorporate it gradually. It won’t necessarily upset your stomach unless you’re sensitive to high-sugar foods. If you’re consistently experiencing stomach issues, it might be wise to consult a healthcare provider to explore any underlying concerns rather than solely modifying diet based on anecdotes. Always prioritize a varied diet and listen to your body’s responses; moderation is key here. If soaking raisins water fits appropriately within these, it could be a convenient way to incorporate a bit of extra nutrition into your day. Just remember that it shouldn’t be seen as a substitute for other healthful dietary practices or as a primary source of hydration.
