What are the chances of pregnancy if ejaculation happened outside and we are both minors?

Client_507c5d

Hello doctor, please help us. Me and my girlfriend are minors and we are very scared about pregnancy. Her last period started on the 15th. We had sex today but ejaculation happened completely outside. We are only worried that maybe a small drop accidentally went inside. Does anything will happen??

Doctors' responses

The chances of pregnancy from ejaculation outside, often referred to as the withdrawal or pull-out method, are generally lower than from direct ejaculation inside the vagina. However, there is still a risk, albeit a small one, primarily due to the presence of sperm in pre-ejaculatory fluid or if any semen accidentally entered the vagina at any point during intercourse. The timing in relation to her menstrual cycle also plays a role in pregnancy risk. Ovulation typically occurs around 14 days before the start of the next period, so if today falls within the 9th to 21st day of her cycle, there’s a higher chance of ovulation being close. If either of you are anxious about the potential risk of pregnancy, consider the use of emergency contraception; it’s most effective within 72 to 120 hours after unprotected sex. This would be a proactive measure to lower the likelihood of pregnancy. For future encounters, think about utilizing more reliable contraception methods like condoms or birth control pills to prevent not just pregnancy, but also sexually transmitted infections. It’s important to learn the basics of reproductive health and contraception. Regular periods, understanding fertile windows, and knowing about different contraception options can empower you and lower anxiety around these situations. If you have further concerns, consulting with a healthcare professional would be a wise step to get accurate, personalized advice and resources suitable for your circumstances.
