For an oily scalp prone to dandruff, you’ll want a gentle yet effective shampoo that targets both concerns. A sulfate and paraben-free shampoo is a good choice as these ingredients can sometimes irritate the scalp and exacerbate your issues. A product with salicylic acid or ketoconazole can be helpful for dandruff, as they reduce flakes and control the fungal growth contributing to dandruff. You could consider shampoos containing tea tree oil or zinc pyrithione, which have antimicrobial properties.

Using a shampoo every alternate day is usually safe for oily scalps, but monitor how your scalp responds. If you find your scalp becoming too dry or your hair texture changing negatively, you might need to adjust the frequency. For hair fall and thinning, it’s worth considering a lightweight, non-greasy serum like minoxidil, which is FDA-approved for promoting hair growth. Note that it’s typically used twice daily directly on the scalp, but ensure you follow product instructions carefully. Make sure to look into if you’re suitable for minoxidil as it shouldn’t be used by everyone, and it’s wise to check with a healthcare provider if there are any contradictions with your health history.

In terms of lifestyle adjustments, ensure you’re managing stress levels, getting enough protein, and maintaining a well-balanced diet that supports hair health. Possible deficiencies in vitamins D and B12 or iron might exacerbate hair issues, so it’s sensible to discuss with a healthcare provider if supplementation might be necessary. If your dandruff and hair fall persists despite self-care measures, consult a dermatologist to explore underlying conditions that might need more targeted treatments.

How is kesh king Anti dandruff/Bhringraj shampoo? Also suggest something to promote hair growth and strengthening of hairs.

Hello,

If dandruff is severe or itchy with flakes, or hair fall is sudden/intense, it is better to use medicated shampoo (ketoconazole) which i have mentioned here. If it is mild you can use these kesh kimg/bhringraj .

For hair growth and strengthening , i suggested hair serums and hair masks for you. You can also use Minoxidil spray for hair growth.

Hair mask:Onion juice + curd+ honey is a good choice for hair growth. Tip: Ferment the onion juice for 72 hours and then mix it with curd and honey

I hope your concern is solved Thank you

Your oily scalp, dandruff, and hair thinning suggest scalp imbalance and possible nutritional or hormonal causes. Using a gentle, sulfate- and paraben-free shampoo along with a nourishing hair serum may help, but results can vary. Specialist consultation is advised (Dermatologist/Trichologist).

Hello Gunjan, I understand your concern. According to what you have explained, it looks like you have Seborrheic Dermatitis type dandruff and hairfall secondary to oil imbalance + inflammation. But no need to worry, I’m here to help and here is my advise -

1. Shampoo Recommendations (These are sulphate and pataben free) - -Scalp detox / dandruff control shampoos: Ketoconazole 1% or 2% shampoo (Ketozol, KZ Lotion, Keraglo AD, Nizoral) — 2–3×/week OR Selsun Suspension (Selenium sulfide 1%) for 1–2 weeks if heavy dandruff -Mild sulphate-free daily use shampoos: L’Oréal Professionnel Scalp Advanced Anti-Dandruff Shampoo. Sebamed Anti-Dandruff Shampoo. BBlunt Anti-Dandruff Shampoo. Bare Anatomy Anti-Dandruff Shampoo (with Piroctone Olamine)

2. Post-wash / Serum suggestions - Use on damp scalp, 1 mL twice daily: Mintop 2%/5% lotion (Minoxidil) – if active hair thinning OR TrichoZen Hair Serum OR Minimalist Hair Growth Actives 18% serum - good for oily scalp.

3. Medicine - Tab. Follihair once daily × 3 months.

4. Eat protein-rich foods (milk, curd, paneer, dal, egg/fish). Avoid oil massage if scalp oily. Avoid harsh hair oils / aloe vera gel directly on scalp.

Feel free to reach out again.
