Questions related to having vomiting feeling and bowl movements - #16635
I had asked a question earlier and was taking ovarl l for 21 days after which I got my withdrawal bleed on 21st November and it was a light period for 3 days and now my doctor has advised me to take another pack of ovarl l which I had started on 25th novber and yesterday I suddenly had a feeling of vomiting and had 4 times stools passing in a single day so I am concerned that is this a sign of pregnancy or just a normal side effect of ovar l

Doctors’ responses
Hello,
Pregnancy is very unlikely because you completed your pill pack, had a withdrawal bleed, and restarted Ovarl L on time.
Your symptoms (nausea, vomiting feeling, and 4 bowel movements) are common side-effects of Ovarl L or more likely a mild stomach infection, not pregnancy.
Only if you vomit within 3 hours of taking the pill or have severe diarrhea for more than 24 hours can the pill’s effectiveness decrease.
No pregnancy test is needed right now unless you missed pills or your next withdrawal bleed doesn’t come.
Stay hydrated and eat light foods; symptoms should settle soon.

Hello dear As per clinical history it seems normal physiological variation You had already taken an ocd medication which prevented further reproductive cycle So there are no chances of pregnancy However if you have still doubt get pregnancy strip test blood HCG done and share result with gynaecologist fir better clarity All your symptoms are just related with either side-effects of ocd or hormonal alterations Regards
Hello Simran, I understand your worry. Your current symptoms probably are not due to pregnancy.
Still, to clear your head, do a simple home Urine Pregnancy Test, you’ll be relieved once and for all.
And start these medications for your symptomatic relief -
-Cap. Pantop + DSR before breakfast daily × 5 days. - Tab. Lactic Acid Bacillus thrice a day. - ORS solution as much as needed.

So the bleeding that I had on 21st November is an actual period
So then this is my actual period and there is no need for any pregnancy test?
Hello Simran By going through your history and evaluation of your health status I must say that Since you’re taking Ovarl L (a combined oral contraceptive pill) as prescribed, and you had a withdrawal bleed after your last pack, the chance of pregnancy is extremely low if you’ve been taking the pills correctly and haven’t missed any doses. The symptoms you described—feeling like vomiting and passing stools multiple times in a day—are much more likely to be side effects of the pill or just a mild stomach upset, rather than signs of pregnancy. Ovarl L can sometimes cause nausea, mild digestive changes, or loose stools, especially when starting a new pack.
Thank you
It’s reasonable to be concerned when you experience changes like nausea and increased bowel movements. These symptoms can be due to several factors, including side effects from taking hormonal medications like Ovral L. Ovral L contains hormones that can affect your digestive system and sometimes cause nausea or changes in bowel habits. However, these symptoms are not typically signs of pregnancy, especially given the timing and that you have been following the prescribed contraceptive regimen. The withdrawal bleed and your adherence to taking the pills suggest that pregnancy is less likely, but not impossible. If there’s still concern about pregnancy, consider taking a home pregnancy test or discussing further with your doctor. On the other hand, if the nausea and increased bowel movements persist or worsen, it’s important to monitor them as they could also be due to other factors such as dietary changes, stress, or even a viral gastrointestinal infection. Staying hydrated and considering a bland diet may help if the symptoms are mild. However, if the symptoms are severe enough to cause dehydration or are accompanied by other worrying signs like high fever, it’s wise to consult a healthcare provider. It’s crucial to keep an open line of communication with your doctor, especially when on medications like Ovral L, to manage any side effects and ensure the treatment plan aligns with your well-being.
