detox methods - #21587

Hriday

I am really feeling confused about all these detox methods I've been hearing about lately. A few months back, I started feeling sluggish and bloated, like no matter what I ate, it wasn’t right. I even went to the doc, and all the tests came back normal, which just made me more frustrated! Then I stumbled upon detox methods online, and they promise everything from weight loss to more energy. I tried that juice cleanse thing for a week, but honestly, it just added to my misery. I felt hungry all the time and was always thinking about food! Then I read about other detox methods, like cutting out sugar or doing some kind of herbal tea routine. I’m kind of wondering have any of you tried any detox methods and if they actually worked? I’ve heard mixed reviews. Some say they felt absolutely amazing after, while others just felt worse. I just want to feel like myself again, you know? Is there a certain detox methods that worked for you? Or maybe even ones to avoid? I’m really at a loss and looking for solid advice. Just scared I’ll end up wasted time and money on something that's not gonna work for me!

Doctors' responses

Detox methods often get claimed for various benefits like weight loss or increased energy, but the medical community remains skeptical about their effectiveness. The human body, particularly your liver, kidneys, and intestines, is naturally capable of eliminating toxins without needing any similar “detox” regimens. Those hunger and food preoccupation you felt during the juice cleanse are common because such diets often deprive you of essential nutrients and adequate calories, disrupting normal metabolism and leading to that sluggishness. Instead of strict detox methods, consider reviewing your overall diet and lifestyle. Focus on a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats to support your body’s detoxification processes naturally. Staying hydrated, getting regular physical activity, sufficient sleep, and managing stress are all practical steps to achieve that “better” feeling you’re after. Cutting out processed foods and high-sugar items can also be more efficient long-term ways of feeling energetic without the hangups of temporary detox solutions. It’s advisable to skip herbal teas marketed for detox because they can cause diarrhea and dehydration. If something feels off or symptoms persist, checking in with a healthcare professional could further guide you in tailoring a personalized approach based on your specific needs and lifestyle, rather than potentially invasive detoxes with more promise than evidence.
