can we eat sabja seeds daily - #23780

Ira

I am kinda confused about this whole sabja seeds thing. I started hearing a lot about them (you know, the basil seeds) from my friend who swears by them for digestion issues. She mentioned that can we eat sabja seeds daily and I thought, wow, that sounds interesting! So I started adding them to my smoothies and even in my overnight oats. But honestly, I've got some worries. I experience bloating like all the time when I eat rich foods, and I'm not really sure if having sabja seeds might make that worse or not. And, like, I love how they swell up in water, but I've read some stuff saying they can be messy if you don’t prepare them right. Can we eat sabja seeds daily and still be okay with our stomachs? I also found different opinions online—some say it’s safe while others say to have them in moderation. I've only been having a spoonful or two a day, but I’m worried maybe that’s too much? What if they cause constipation or something? Anyway, any insights or experiences with sabja seeds would be awesome! I just want to make sure I'm not messing up my gut while trying to be healthy, ya know?

Eating sabja seeds daily can generally be safe for most people, and they do have some nice potential health benefits, especially when it comes to digestion. They’re known for being rich in fiber, which can help with digestion, but it’s important to prepare them correctly. These tiny seeds swell up significantly when soaked in water, and if they aren’t fully expanded before consumption, they might cause indigestion or discomfort. As you’re already experiencing bloating regularly, it’s important to introduce them into your diet gradually and ensure they’re fully soaked. Start with a small amount, like half a teaspoon, and see how your body reacts before gradually increasing it to about one to two teaspoons if you tolerate them well.

In terms of your concern about constipation or other issues, if you find any bowel discomfort, it could be linked to the amount of water you drink. Since sabja seeds are quite high in fiber, they may require more water intake to prevent digestive backup. So be sure to increase your water consumption alongside your intake of the seeds. And if you start noticing any adverse effects like significant bloating, constipation, or digestive pain, it would be wise to pause your intake and consult with a healthcare professional to explore other potential causes.

It’s also important to note that everyone’s digestive system responds differently to dietary changes, so while many may find sabja seeds to be beneficial, others might not tolerate them as well. Always listen to your body’s signals and make changes slowly. If you notice persistent bloating despite these adjustments, it might be due to other dietary factors or conditions, and consulting a healthcare provider can help in addressing any underlying issues.
