amla juice when to drink - #24375

Advika

I am really confused about when to drink amla juice. I started taking it last month because I heard about the health benefits, but I have no idea if I'm doing it right. Last week, I experienced some weird stomach pains after drinking it in the morning, so I wondered if maybe that's not the best time to drink amla juice. I read online that it’s packed with vitamin C and antioxidants, and that's why I thought it was a good idea to take it first thing, but now I'm questioning myself! Also, I was told to mix it with honey or water, but I tried both, and honestly, I'm not sure which one works better for me. I read somewhere that drinking amla juice on an empty stomach can help with digestion, but then I came across some posts saying it can be heavy for some people. If I drink amla juice in the evening instead, would I still get those health benefits? Like, am I totally messing this up? I wanna make the most out of it! Any advice would really help. Thanks!

Doctors' responses

When it comes to consuming amla juice, timing and individual tolerance can vary, and it’s important to listen to your body’s signals. Drinking amla juice in the morning on an empty stomach is quite popular due to its potential benefits for digestion and immunity, attributed to its high vitamin C content and antioxidants. However, as you’ve experienced stomach pains after consuming it this way, it’s possible that for some, its acidic nature may cause discomfort when the stomach is empty. In such cases, taking it after breakfast or diluted with water or honey can mitigate potential irritation. Mixing with honey may add additional soothing properties, but plain water works well for diluting without changing its nutritional profile. Drinking amla juice in the evening is not necessarily a problem—as long as you tolerate it well, you’ll still gain its health benefits. Just be cautious and see how your body responds. Some individuals report different digestion patterns, so it’s key to observe how it affects you personally. If discomfort persists or if you notice any adverse effects, it might be best to consult with a healthcare provider to ensure it’s suitable for your individual health conditions and lifestyle. Balancing with meals, considering digestive sensitivity, and hydration are practical approaches to optimize its incorporation into your routine. Amla juice is beneficial, but like all supplements, the best regimen differs from person to person—ease into it, adjust as needed, and prioritize how your body reacts.
