aceclofenac dose per day - #27209

Rohan

I am really worried about my pain management, especially after a recent injury to my knee. The doctor prescribed aceclofenac, and while I'm taking it, I'm not completely sure I'm taking the right aceclofenac dose per day. I started at a lower dose to see how my body reacted but honestly, the pain is still pretty bad. Initially, I was hesitant to take the higher dose because I kept second-guessing whether I was overdoing it. I read online that the aceclofenac dose per day can vary widely for different conditions, and now I’m confused. Is taking two 100mg tablets enough? I mean, should I be aiming for more or less? My friends mentioned they were on higher doses when they dealt with similar issues, but they didn't have the same medical conditions as me. Sometimes, I feel like I’m caught in this balancing act of not wanting to take too much but also wanting to effectively manage my pain. Has anyone here had similar experience with determining the aceclofenac dose per day? What did you do to figure out what’s right? I just hope I’m not messing things up by not understanding how much I should be taking.

Doctors' responses

Aceclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) commonly used to relieve pain and inflammation, so you’re on the right track for managing your knee pain. For adults, the usual recommended dose of aceclofenac for pain management is 100mg twice daily, which adds up to 200mg per day. It sounds like your current dose is aligned with that standard dosage regime. It’s important to take these doses with food to minimize stomach irritation. If you feel you’re not getting adequate relief and are considering increasing the dose, it’s crucial that you consult your doctor before making any changes. Increasing the dosage beyond the recommended level without medical advice can raise the risk of side effects, such as gastrointestinal issues or kidney problems, especially if you have underlying medical conditions. Remember, chronic or severe pain that isn’t adequately controlled with medication might need comprehensive evaluation to determine if there’s a need for different management strategies or if further investigation is warranted. You may consider discussing with your doctor any ongoing symptoms and exploring possible alternative or adjunctive therapies like physiotherapy that could help manage your pain. While your friends’ experiences with dosing might seem reassuring, differences in individual medical histories, and overall health make personalized medical advice essential. Ensure you follow up with your healthcare provider to tailor the plan to your specific needs, this will help you safely navigate your condition without unnecessary risks.
