benifits of eating curd - #28551

Drishti

I am really curious about the benifits of eating curd! Lately, I've been trying to eat healthier, so I started adding curd to my diet after hearing about its good for digestion. A friend recommended it, saying the benifits of eating curd are amazing, and it’s great for gut health. Last week, I had this crazy bloating issue, and I read that curd might help. But honestly, I'm not sure how much I should be eating to really see these benifits of eating curd. I tried it with fruits, but the taste just wasn't my thing, and I ended up just plain eating it. My mom said she used to give it to me when I was sick, which made me think — are there actually more benifits of eating curd that I’m missing out on? Also, I’ve seen some people say it might not be good for lactose intolerance. Like, is the benifits of eating curd worth it if you have dairy issues? I'm really hoping someone can clear that up because I really want to make this a regular thing in my meals. I don’t want to mess up my tummy more than it already is! What do you guys think?

Eating curd does come with several benefits, particularly when considering digestive health. It’s rich in probiotics, these are beneficial bacteria that can help balance your gut microbiota, potentially easing bloating and improving digestion. This might be why your friend recommended it for gut health. It’s also a good source of calcium, protein, and essential vitamins, contributing to bone health and overall nutrition. Generally, incorporating about a cup of curd into your daily diet can be beneficial, though this can vary based on individual dietary needs and preferences. If plain curd doesn’t appeal to you, experimenting with different preparations—like adding it to smoothies or using it as a base for dressings—could make it more palatable.

Regarding lactose intolerance, curd might be easier on the stomach compared to other dairy products. The fermentation process involved in making curd partially breaks down lactose, potentially reducing its impact on those with mild lactose intolerance. However, it’s not universally safe for everyone with dairy issues, so listening to your body is crucial. If you find that curd causes discomfort, or you’re unsure about your tolerance, discussing this with a healthcare provider might be a smart move. They may suggest alternatives like lactose-free curd or other probiotic-rich foods.

So, is the benefit worth it if you have dairy issues? It can be, but cautiously approach it and observe how your body reacts. Remember, benefits can vary from person to person, and maintaining a balanced diet will always be paramount. If you’re interested in making it regular, start with a small quantity like a few spoonfuls, and increase gradually while monitoring any changes in symptoms like your bloating.
